Hufflepuff Poll of the Month for August 2009
Welcome, welcome to a new school year! What does that mean to the Hufflepuffs and the Wizarding Times? Another year of questions and answers from our Hufflepuff Poll of the Month!
By now most students have visited the class lists at HOL and have chosen which wonderful, exciting, interesting, and challenging classes they will take for the first term or for the year. So for our first poll of the year, it seemed like a great idea to ask my fellow Hufflepuffs what classes they were looking at and those that they intended to sign up for. I offered four canon-type classes — Ancient Runes, Astronomy, Muggle Studies (Fashion History) and Potions For Beginners — as well as "Other."
The students were asked to vote on those classes as well as Other and to please write a comment, if they so wished. I am happy to announce that 24 students voted and 18 students left comments.
Ancient Runes: 1 vote, 3.45%
Astronomy: 4 votes, 13.79%
Muggle Studies (Fashion History): 0 votes, 0%
Potions for Beginners: 4 votes, 13.79%
Other: 20 votes, 68.97%
I would like to now offer their comments for your reading enjoyment.
Lilly Stargazer:
Well, my impatient self couldn't wait for signups to open! lol I might come back and edit my post after it does, but I wanted to respond already. I hope to get into Potions, and 'other' just seemed to easy to click! The other 3 classes I have already taken, ironically enough all last year!
Well here's what I wound up choosing: Dragons, Oceanology, Magic of Forensic Science, and Potions for Beginners.
Prof. Ceit Uiseag:
I'm going to do Broom Race again — I passed it last year, but I enjoyed it so much, and there are going to be new puzzles, so I'm taking the class again. I also really want... to take Managing Your Mana, with Prof. Swede....
Rachel Selenia:
The class I hope the most to take is Strategy: Deconstructing Harry Potter. I haven't really decided on the others yet, but there sure are a lot of interesting ones! I'm trying to choose between Broom Race, Magical Embroidery, Ancient Runes: Grave Markers, Cryptic Codes, History of Hogwarts: The Founders.... *continues reading from her list of interesting classes*
Askeron Kyle:
I would like to take Potions for Beginners because I think it looks really interesting, and I love the puzzles. I would also like to take Quidditch the Wizarding Way, History of Hogwarts: The Founders, and World Wonders.
Rorey Padfoot:
Seriously this term looks amazing with all the wonderful classes being offer. It has been extremely hard to chose just five. But History of Hogwarts: The Founders, Magical Embroidery, and Monsters of Cinema are on the top of my list.
Tarma Black:
I am going to be in Broom Race and in The Squibbler! I know that because I'm Class Assistant for them — and, well, they are both SO much FUN! I'm totally jazzed. As for my other 3 classes... that will be SUCH a difficult decision to narrow it down to just 3. I feel lucky that it will be so difficult!
Brian McCorquodale:
I still really don't even know how many I want to take! I don't think I can handle the full load my first time around. But I am definitely going to do Advanced Herbology for Potions, Challenges in Magical Healing and Wizarding Science and, if I feel the need to take more, I will pick from those that remain. So many choices, so little time!
Narcissa Heart:
There are so many great classes this term. Still trying to decide exactly which ones, but I have a few that I am on my way to right now!
Prof. Felicia Hartwick:
Well... I did manage to sign up for one class before HOL went POOF. I signed up for Ancient Runes: Grave Markers. I was sooo ecxited when I saw this class. You see, I love cemeteries.... I love walking around exploring the names and dates and workmanship of the head stones.
Zoki Phantom:
I actually had around 11 classes from which I had to pick, as I wanted to take all of them. I had to flip a coin about er... 18 times to pick which ones I'll take: Herbology for Potions, Divination, Magic of Forensic Science, Monsters in Cinema, and Wandless Website Workshop: HTML and CSS.
Ashley Denver:
I chose Other. The classes I picked are Academie de Magie Beauxbatons, History of Hogwarts: The Founders, The Quibbler, and Wandless Website Workshop: HTML and CSS.
Colm St Barry:
I chose 4 classes. Ones that I thought I would enjoy. The classes I picked are Potions For Beginners, Charms, Dragons, and Conquer The World.
Abigail Chalmers:
Yay! I'm so excited for another year of amazing classes. Seeing as I pretty much wanted to take everything it was a super hard choice to make. I went with Ancient Runes — Grave Markers, Dragons, History of Hogwarts: The Founders, Muggle Travel Studies, and Quidditch — The Wizarding Way.
Prof. Anne Damhsoir:
I'm not going to be taking any this year... part of my "simplify my life while the hubby is deployed" plan... that way I can ensure that I have AWESOME lessons for my two classes!
David Hester:
I signed up for 5 classes. They were very hard to choose because there were so many good classes, but the classes I wanted to take but didn't take I will sign up for next term. I chose History of Hogwarts: The Founders, Charms, Astronomy, Famous Witches and Wizards in History, and Oceanology.
Marcie Hobber:
For the first time since my first year at HOL, I've decided to sign up for 5 classes. Some of these are one-term classes, but I have to make room for the OWL classes in the spring. So, I chose Astronomy, Muggle Puzzles, Broom Race — The Race Across Sweden, Ancient Runes, and Magic of Forensic Science.
Kath Snape:
I have been accepted into 5 classes. This was a real hard first term to choose from. So many wonderful classes. I am taking Ancient Runes — Grave Markers, Care of Magical Pets, Dragons, History of Hogwarts — The Founders, and Traditional Home and Folk Remedies.
