Apple Pie Recipe

By Emily Widjaja

Ingredients

  • Two (2) 9-inch (pre-made) pie crusts (one for the top crust, one for the bottom crust)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • pinch of salt
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons butter or margerine
  • 6 cups cored, peeled, and thinly sliced apples (preferably Jonathan, Winesnap, Jonagold, or Pipin but other apples probably would be just fine)

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 425F.

2. Mix sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and salt. Stir in the apples.

3. Pour mixture into a pie crust, dot with butter or margarine. Cover with top crust (don't forget to pinch the sides close), and slightly slit the top four or six times, evenly — in a pattern around the center — to let steam escape.

4. Cover edge of the crust with a three inch strip of aluminum foil.
Remove foil during last 15 minutes of baking.

5. Bake 40-50 minutes, until crust is brown. (It's normal for brown juice to bubble at the top. It just means it's time to get it out of the oven.)

Now it's ready to serve! Enjoy!
