Getting Sorted
Editor's note: Although this is Hufflepuff magazine, we love having perspectives from all houses. So here's something about life as an ickle Eagle. -CBM
Hi! My name is Scarlet Irisa, and I am a First Year Ravenclaw. My article is all about the difficulties and questions I had when I first joined HOL. Even though we're in different houses.
I actually joined HOL last year. I was a bit lost, and I didn't have a clue how to get help. I signed up for some classes but ended up being dropped. But this year things are beginning to look up, and I just hope I can manage with everything I have signed up for!
I first started looking around HOL again at the end of July. I used my old profile, and this time I did a bit of reading up in the Handbook! I realized how complex HOL was — all the Quidditch teams, beans, and the common rooms! The first thing I did was go into the Ravenclaw Common Room. Surely someone could help me out? Then Adopt an Eaglet caught my eye! I signed up and Kyrie Adderholt adopted me. She was very patient with me, answering my endless posts and helping me immensely. I am now a member of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. Kyrie had to help me quite a lot because I really struggled with the whole mIRC thing.
Another thing that has helped me is the Ravenclaw Common Room in general! I love to post and recently Jenna Hathaway made me a avatar and signature (I even needed help requesting one). I now post about 30 times a day or more. But the main thing that I have done recently is sign up for classes. I have signed up for 4 and I just hope I can manage them! But an older girl has told me that a good thing to do is to do your homework in advance and save it as a draft. Thanks for that, Kristen!
I started out as a small eaglet without a clue what was going on, but now I am a RQT member, a big poster and I have started helping other people! I'm still figuring out a few things, but on the whole my idea of what HOL is has improved greatly, and I think I am nearly ready for the start of what is going to be an awesome term!!
