Class Review: The Marauders 101
The new HOL school year has begun and I have chosen the five classes that I will take for this coming Fall Term. Two of my classes are one term classes and three are full year classes. A Visit To Diagon Alley, The History of Witchcraft and Fantastic Beast are the full year classes. Crytozoology and The Marauders 101 are one term classes.
My class review will be about the new class — THE MARAUDERS 101!!
As most Harry Potter readers know, the Marauders are James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew. This class is taught by the lovely Serenity Thomas, and her class assistant is the hard working Becky Jay Winchester.
There are four main lessons, one about each Marauder: the werewolf, Remus Lupin, in lesson one; the death eater and traitor, Peter Pettigrew, in lesson two; lesson three, the troublemaker and pal of James Potter, Sirius Black; the final lesson covers Harry's dad, James Potter.
Each lesson gives the student who takes this class extensive and accurate information on each character. I have already finished lesson one, so I will use that lesson for my review. This lesson is full of information about Remus Lupin, from a small child, his time at Hogwarts, being the DADA professor, his life as a husband and a father and of course his being a member of the Order of the Phoenix. It is all very well written and keeps your interest.
The homework offers multiple choice questions and true-or-false questions. The entire lesson is covered by the homework. The T/F questions can be tricky, so you need to know your Remus Lupin information to answer them correctly. A well-written sentence should be given for any false answer, making sure you give the true information that is needed for each.
Now it is the Extra Credit that has me all excited! It offers students three options.
Option number one allows you to be a Da Vinci and draw a picture of Remus Lupin, as himself or as a werewolf. Option number two you must write 200 words about the stated subject. Option number three is called Interactive.
This option is an amazing challenge. There are three puzzles to get through. They are not your ordinary puzzles or challenges. They are fun, mind stretching and tricky. Each puzzle you complete has another step to it. You must complete that and find your answer. This answer is placed at the end of a web link. If you have done everything correctly, this link will bring you to the next puzzle. The same thing happens with each puzzle and when you have completed all three you are brought to the end where you are congratulated! The best thing is each time you finish the EC you earn not only 30 points, but you also earn 10 beans!!!
If you love the Marauders and enjoy learning about them, then you want to take this course. I can assure you the class Homework and Extra Credit are really a wild and fun experience.
