End of Summer, Back To HOL!

By Patrick Komban

Now that summer is over, HOL has loads of surprises for you to keep you entertained in our new school year.

HOL Pen Pal Club: Are you new to HOL? Want to find a friend to help you out around the HOL community? Sign up today! It is really helpful, believe me. And it's not just for new students. Any HOLer can join.

Book Writing Project: Want to get more and more house-points for your House? Go to the HOL Library and Book Writing Project. Read the topic you want to write your chapter in. Then research your chapter topic and type it down. Remember to not plagiarize in your chapter or house-points will be deducted from you.

Hogsmeade: Have enough beans to buy books, potion ingredients and wizard cards? Then Hogsmeade is the right place to get them. You can buy your first wand if you are a newbie, buy some Cockroach Clusters and other sweets from the famous Honeydukes, read the Hogsmeade Herald and find new and happening topics, and lastly, visit Gringotts, where you can store your rich beans in your personal and private vault.

Exciting Classes: If you have not signed up for your classes, do it today or you might not get the class you want. Remember that you need at least two Quills before you can proceed to the next year, and you can earn Quills taking and passing classes. There is a wide range of classes to choose from, including even the famous History of Magic. You can only choose five classes at a time. You can also get house points for every assignment you do. There are usually extra credit projects where you can be awarded more house-points.

Sparkleissa Ink: Do you want a new signature to add a little spice in your profile? Sparkleissa Ink is the place where you can get signatures and photoshop pictures for your profile from expert graphic designers.

IRC: IRC is how HOLers chat from all over the world. There is a chat room area on the HOL homepage, but it's so much better if you have a special program for it. The most popular program for HOLers is mIRC, which has a lot of advanced features, but it's only for Windows computers. Mac and Linux users have other options, and some of them are mentioned in the HOL Handbook. It doesn't matter what program you use, though, because you can access all the HOL channels, including the Quidditch channels, with any of them.

HOL has officially opened its doors to the new school year. Catch all the fun and chat with your new found friends. HOL is all about friendship and fun.
