Little Homemade Croissant Bites
So, back to school, fellow classmates! And what do you get to eat at school? This is a recipe of delicious croissant-like bites, which I myself have cooked many times before. So instead of buying a croissant at school, tell your mom to cook those tasty little treasures!
Under age witches and wizards should be supervised by an adult while cooking.
Little Homemade Croissant Bites
Ingredients
100g yeast
500g butter
500g sugar
1 litre milk
1 teaspoon salt
2600g flour
4 eggs
Directions
1. Melt the butter and warm the milk (not boil).
2. Put the warm milk in a big bowl, add the yeast and the salt, and stir so that they are melted together.
3. Add the melted butter, the sugar, the (beaten) eggs.
4. Add the flour slowly until you create a soft dough.
5. Work the dough with some oil (sunflower or corn), so as not to get dough stuck on your hands.
6. Turn on the oven in 50 degrees Celsius (very low temperature).
7. Put the bowl with the dough in the oven (covered with a towel or some baking paper) and take it out when it bulges. (See the picture.)
8. When the dough is ready, separate it in small balls (about the size of your fist).
9. Roll out each dough-ball in a circle and cut it into 8 pieces. Then roll over each piece into a small croissant. (See the picture below.)
10. Spread some egg over the little croissants and bake them at 200 degrees Celsius for 15-20 minutes until they get a brownish colour.
When ready, cut the baked little treasures in half and fill them with praline, chocolate, marmalade, honey or anything you like.
NOTE: This recipe makes nearly 80-100 little croissants. It depends how big or small you make them.
Enjoy my recipe and have a good school year!
