Getting Ready for Hogwarts

By Scarlet Irisa

Right. Pens and Pencils. Check. Bag and books. Check. Exercise Books. Check.

I was all ready to go to my new high school, Mountain High, when I received my letter. We knew that I might be a witch, but my parents had given up hope and gone on with the plans to send me to Muggle school. But then I got my letter.

I was sitting in my bedroom when a handsome barn owl flew in through the open window. I knew this could only mean one thing. I removed the letter. The address was

Scarlet Irisa
Third bedroom on the left
Willow House
France

I carefully opened the envelope, and there in green ink was my invitation to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I told my parents straight away, and they were delighted.

So now it's out with the old pens and paper and in with a wand and owl.

Right. Wand, seven-and-a-half inches, unicorn hair, elm. Check. Three black wizard robes. Check. Size 2 pewter cauldron. Check. Parchment, quills, ink (so much more exciting than boring pens and paper!). Check. Brand new broomstick. No; first years aren't allowed their own brooms. Opal the owl (my prize for getting in). Check.

Well, that's everything! Oops! I forgot my textbooks! Here we go again! Textbooks. Check! Looks like I'm all set for Hogwarts!
