News from the Cove

By Rorey Padfoot

With the end of summer comes the end of the race for the top citrine stop. This year we saw many leaders through the months, and I for one even wondered if the reigning champion was going to be able to keep her title. The citrines have been all tallied up, and it's time to announce the top three spots of the race.

In third place, earning 1,486 citrines, we have Prof. Tarma Shanti-White winning the Citrine Hoarder award.

In second place, with 1,539 citrines, is me, Rorey Padfoot, winning the Citrine Hoarder Extraordinaire award.

Holding on to her first place spot with an astounding 1,633 citrines is Kath Snape, winning the Citrine Hoarder Specialist award.

We had some very close calls as well, with Zoki Phantom earning 1,319 citrines and Prof. Scarlet Leslie earning 1,016 citrines.

Since the new year has started, a new race has begun. You might ask how do you earn citrines? Well, there are loads of ways to earn yourself some shiny sparkly yellow citrines.

Check the Sett (Hufflepuff Common Room) for citrine opportunities. There are several challenges offered every month in the Department of Huffle Games and Sports, also known as the Games Tent. Each month the hardworking Games Tent officials make sure there are challenges for the Hufflepuffs (and non-Hufflepuffs) to work on in between their classes. The Badger Bookself and Huffle Kitchen also have monthly activities in which students are rewarded with citrines.

Hufflepuff students can also earn citrines for doing their homework. We have what we like to call the 100 Club. All Hufflepuffs have to do is earn 100 points in a month's time to be part of the 100 Club. Each month you are in the 100 Club you will receive 30 citrines. You might be saying "100 points? That's a lot of points," but it's not, really; if you are taking just three classes you have the capability of earning 120 points a month by doing your assignments and extra credits. This doesn't even include the Library or Art Departments that offer point activities as well. As a super bonus our own Head of House Professor Anya will reward each quill Hufflepuff students earn a term with 30 more citrines. That's a whole lot of citrine earning if you ask me.

Throughout the year there are also extra activities that are held in which students can earn citrines, so I recommend everyone keep an eye out for them.

Now, citrine earning is not just for Hufflepuffs; oh no, we welcome other houses to join in on the fun. In fact, this year, the Citrine Cove has decided to give an extra reward out for those non-badger folks. The top citrine earner that is a non-Hufflepuff student (or professor) will get the Citrine Hoarder Neighbor award.

So, you see, there are many ways we can earn citrines and make the race for Citrine Hoarder an exciting one.
