Departing is such sweet sorrow

by Katie Sierra

Departing is such sweet sorrow...
Now you and I must say goodbye
Before too long, we'll meet again
But I'll miss you in the meantime

Through each tedious hour of sunlight
I'll wish you were here with me
You'll have fun and I'll be waiting here
With all these fond memories....

Times you'd put your arm around me
And say, "Don't worry; it's okay."
Those times you'd say the sweetest things
Those times you'd take my breath away

The high fives for no reason at all
Sarcastic comments, quirky smiles...
With these memories, I'll make it through
These mem'ries make it all worthwhile

So out my window tonight
I will claim a star in the sky
And I'll name it after you
So I can see you every night

And just so, you'll remember me
In a less dramatic way, I'm sure
But knowing that I'll cross your mind
Is a dream come true, as it were

Tonight I can say with confidence
No matter how long we spend apart
You and I will make it out unscathed
You will always hold a piece of my heart
