Dear Diary,

Well, I've got two things that are NEW today.... First off, I sure was wrong in my suspicions about my Dad and Alana. Or, I guess I was? I don't know; I'm gonna have to find out later. But yeah, we had that big dance here at Hogwarts last night. Like I wrote before — it was in honour of some Big Wigs of the Ministry who were visiting and we all had to wear fancy clothes and stuff. That wasn't too bad, I mean, at least I HAVE some fancy clothes. So I ended up wearing my black nubby silk dress with the real tight bodice and long full sleeves down to my wrists with the tight cuffs. And the skirt starts out like a medieval V at the waist then drapes so great cuz it's reall really full and down to about my calves and with it I wore my black boots with the 2-inch heels. Yeah, I looked cool. Dangerous and cool.

Which reminds me, Gwenog Jones was there!! Of all things!! I was just SO impressed and yeah, it reminds me because her dress was kind of medieval looking too, but really simple and elegant looking. And it was a deep midnight purple with blue highlights; I think the cloth was like one colour on the warp and another colour on the other way so that depending on how it fell, you would see either the purple or the blue. SO COOL!! It probably cost a whole bunch of galleons but, hey, that's what money is for, right? To spend!

Anyway, Alanna was at the dance and she was with some really tall and GOOD LOOKING dude. Wow. He was very very good looking. About 6'5" and dark hair and with really dark eyes and sort of pale, eggshell skin. And they came in together, and danced a lot together and she really likes him, I could tell. I wonder who he is. I wanted to go talk with her but... somehow felt kind of shy and, besides which, at the 'dance orientation' we were told NOT to mix with the non-Hogwarts guests UNLESS we got approval from a Professor. I guess something happened before, at a previous dance, with some dungbombs or stinkpellets and the Headmistress wanted to avoid that sort of thing. So, no socializing. Which was okay but I really wanted to get closer to Gwenog Jones because I'm thinking I want to go professional when I graduate.

Oh, yeah, two things. Well, the other thing I already mentioned — I wanna go professional when I graduate. I saw a Quidditch game yesterday and one of the teams was the Holyhead Harpies and the other was the Montrose Magpies. WHAT a game! It lasted for 3 hours and everyone was exhausted by the time it ended. And I'm just talking about the spectators! A cliffhanger all the way, because the Snitch was almost caught about 5 minutes into the game but then the Harpies' Seeker did a perfect Wronski Feint and it turns out that she really WASN'T after the Snitch but did a perfect job of pretending so the Magpies' Seeker crashed and burned and was taken off the field for an hour while the healers worked on him.

In the meantime, though, the Harpies' Seeker had two Bludgers batted at her at the same time and she dodged one of them but the other got her right in the right arm, then bounced to her head so she was off the field... for about an hour, too. THEN the chasers really got into it, but the Keepers for both teams were really on their games and the score was zero to zero for like a whole HOUR. Then one team scored, the Harpies, and then the other scored. Back and forth that way for another hour, with the score 40-50 at the end of the second hour. By then, both Seekers were back on the field, but both were wobbly (at first) on their brooms.

Finally, the Harpies' Seeker found the Snitch and was chasing it. At this point, the score was tilted in favour of the Wasps, it was about 100-160, but THEN she CAUGHT it and the stands just exploded! (Actually, they DID explode, some joker had put some sort of spell on them to blow up when the Snitch was caught, but there weren't any serious injuries I'm told.) So the game ended 250-160 in the Harpies favour. And I decided that I wanted to play Professional! That was just SO great....

So to watch that game and then go to a dance — I was so sleepy last night that I didn't write in you AND slept in until almost lunch time! But it was a great day (and evening) and I'm really glad today is Sunday and there's no class because I'm going to eat lunch and then take a nap. Maybe. I might go try out some of the moves I saw during the game yesterday.

And I really wonder about Alanna, too. I hope I find out soon what is going on there.

Later, Diary!
