A True Ghost Story

By Askeron Kyle

My neighbor started working shifts and she asked me to let her dogs out while she was at work. So I agreed. Then her husband bought a cab of a fish truck that belonged to her grandfather's business to take to Traction Engine Rallies. If you don't know what a cab of a lorry is, it's the driver's part and the wheels also. The 'truck' part fits over the wheels when it becomes a complete 'truck' or lorry.

It was parked in the front garden or lawn, which is paved, and one day I came from the house and saw a man in the driver's seat. He had on a flat cap and blue-checkered shirt and he was looking at me. I wasn't scared though, and I asked my neighbor if it could have been her grandfather. She asked her father about it and he said it sounded very much like the owner of the cab, but he had died two years before!! I continued to see him after I was told who it was; sometimes I didn't see him at all, but 'felt' him watching me as I passed by the cab. But, then they took the cab to be restored and have since taken it to Traction Engine Rallies. I have often wondered if it was really a ghost, or merely a sort of 'recording' or lasting image of the person who owned the cab, because he loved that cab — so maybe some part of him remained in it when he passed over.
