Review: The Freak, by Carol Matas
What if you woke up one day and learned that you're a psychic? Well, a fifteen year old girl by the name of Jade learns that exact thing. After a long sleep from an almost deadly disease, she thinks that when she comes back to her cottage, she will be the same. But, suddenly, she starts seeing colors around everybody which inform her about their true feelings. Obviously, they change everyday. Then she has nightmares, but not just ordinary ones. The nightmares she has always come true so that's why, through the whole book, she tries to figure out how she can prevent them. As her life goes on, she doesn't have the problems of a normal teenager. She struggles with the dreams she's having which all lead to one thing and, on the other hand, she's struggling to decide if she should tell her family and friends about her new abilities because they're tearingher and them apart. What's happening to her life? Everything she does now is different and that's why her friends are starting to avoid her. She wants to be normal again. But she doesn't know that her abilities might save hundreds of people, and possibly thousands. Could you handle the pressure she's handling?
This fantastic story will surely leave you excited for the next book in the series. I rate this book 3-1/2 stars out of 5. Don't change your mind because of the rating, because the book isn't my favorite type. But, it might be yours.
