Meet the Angels
by Jill Monroe

So, it's a new year. Welcome to all of the new first years and welcome back to all of our returning students. My name is Jill and I'm one of Huffie's Angels, you may not have heard of us. We happen to be Hufflepuff's resident elite crime fighting team. There's Sabrina, Kelly, and Bosley and me of course. We've been together since my second year. But I've known Kelly longer than that.

I met Kelly in our first year. We were both ickle firsties out and about in the castle when we met Charlie. We actually never met him, but we'd get weekly owls from him. We weren't doing much crime-fighting back then, but we offered our services as tour guides and such. We also ran the house lost and found. That's how we met Sabrina; she had lost her Kappas book bag. We were admiring it when a nearly frazzled looking girl came over and said, "Have you got a Kappas original bag? I've lost mine and Dad'll pickle me when he finds out." We showed her what we'd found, and she was so relieved she hugged us both. "I think I left it here last night when I snuck down to the kitchens for a late-night snack. I was so worried about getting caught when I came back in – Parker was throwing firecrackers down the hall – that I forgot. How can I ever repay you?"

"It was nothing," I said, looking to Kelly.
"Yeah," she agreed, "you wouldn't believe the amount of times Parker's stolen shoes from our pile and dumped them in the showers. He can make even the sanest person scream."

"Those are your shoes?" She asked, eyes wide. We looked at each other and nodded.
"Yeah," I said, "Thankfully Mum's credit card funds our little shopping trips." I saw the somewhat puzzled look on her face and said, "Fumbly's my mum," then, reaching into my pocket, I pulled out a small bit of red plastic, "this is the Precious. We use it for all our expenses. Somehow, she just always looks the other way when I use it."

"That may be because she doesn't know you have it," said Kelly mockingly, "what parent on this planet do you know that would willingly give a shopping obsessed girl a credit card?"

"Apparently mine," I said petting the Precious then putting it back into my pocket. Sabrina apparently had a dad who liked to let her shop too, only he apparently didn't have a limitless Precious, and she often had to wait until her own Precious was paid off to use it again. Seeing that she had such fine taste in goods, I offered to let her use my Precious in emergencies.

We were friends before you could say "Madam Malkins' Fall line up." Sabrina joined our lost and found business. We really liked keeping up on all the gossip of the house, helping lost Badgers, and helping out when FumblyMum needed an insider's view. It wasn't until later on that we actually started solving crimes and looking so good, but we were well on our way.

So there we are, the Angels, Kelly, Sabrina, and me, Jill. If you ever need us, we're just an owl away.
