Quotation Notation

"In fair weather prepare for foul."
—Thomas Fuller

This quote has an important message to it. It has a vague meaning that could be interpreted to give us other related messages. What do you think of when you hear the words "In fair weather, prepare for foul"? When I think about this quote, I get the idea that it is telling us to prepare for the worst which is true because things might take an unexpected turn at any point, right? A more pessimistic version of this idea can be found in the quote "Good things never last." As in, the fair weather won't last. I don't quite believe in this concept though. It's not like good things never last; I think it's more like sometimes we don't have the ability to look at the positive sides of a situation, which is fine, because we're human and we can't be expected to have a balanced mentality at all times.

I think another variation of this quote is "Better safe than sorry." I think this quote is also a good representation of Thomas Fuller's quote. Taking the situation from his quote, it's a good idea to bring a light jacket when it's warm, or an umbrella on a cloud-free day. You might get some weird looks, but in case the weather does take a change, you'll be ready. Even if things don't change, it's fine, because it's not like bringing that extra item totally hassled you, did it? It's the thought that counts when it comes to life. Thinking things through will make life a lot easier for you. I think that this quote and other related quotes do a good job in reminding us to prepare, to expect the unexpected and to just be ready for what life brings us. The point is, life can be unpredictable, but unpredictable is never unmanageable.

Something that I want to point out in this Quotation Notation article is that quotes can interact. Don't live your life by one, live your life by a set of them! A quote can be witty, confusing or heartwarming. But they're all based from wisdom. Just remember, where quotes can interact, they can also contradict. By shedding light upon some quotations, I hope I have been aiding you in deciding which quotations deserve YOUR notations.
