Interview with Hermionie Miranda

By Ivelisse Ada

Hey there, folks! Today we're going to sit down with one of Hufflepuff's poster children, Hermionie Miranda! Ever wanted to know what makes this badger tick? If there's any truth to the sheets-with-holes-phobia said to be typical of Hufflepuffs? Well, we're about to find out! I sat down with miss Miranda over IRC and asked her a whole whack of questions, and here is what she had to say!

Ivelisse: Why don't you give us a quick introduction?
Hermionie: Well, as you already know Ive, I'm Hermionie Miranda! I go by the nickname "Herms", though. I am addicted to IRC and love chocolate and Tumblr. I'm also known for being one of the younger HOLers.

Ivelisse: What made you join HOL?
Hermionie: When I joined HOL, I was looking for a place where I could be like Harry and his crew and take cool, magical classes. Back then I wasn't into RP. The classes aspect of HOL, as well as its whole "not revolved around RP" theme really appealed to me.

Ivelisse: What is the most memorable class you've taken?
Hermionie: Oh gosh, there are tons of classes that I find really memorable. I guess Prof. Rorey's classes make up most of my list, haha. "A Visit to Diagon Alley", "A Visit to Hogsmeade", and "Internship at the Ministry of Magic" are classes I really liked. Don't forget Astrology 101, which was previously taught by Lucy Greyback!

Ivelisse: Which achievement in HOL are you most proud of?
Hermionie: I think being accepted as a Student Teacher is my biggest accomplishment on HOL. It made me feel more "included", in a way. Student teaching is a big responsibility, and I felt honored to be granted the right to do it. I feel like since I started to teach on HOL, I've been able to help out more here.

Ivelisse: What made you want to get into student teaching?
Hermionie: Student teaching was something that always fascinated me, even when I was a first year. It just seemed cool, that any member on HOL has the right to teach a class, if they wanted. I liked the idea of spreading my knowledge on poetry through making a class, so that's how I got attracted to student teaching.

Ivelisse: You're quite renowned for your mastery of poetry. What got you so involved in writing poetry?
Hermionie: Poetry was my way of writing for house papers, without dying over the word count. And then I got really into it for RL too. Nowadays, poetry is my emotional outlet. I'm depressed, I write poems. I'm madly in love, I write poems. I'm confused, I write poems. I can write a great poem in a matter of a few minutes. Plus, poetry is my signature style of creativity. To fit in with all the creative HOLers, I turned to poetry as my art to master.

Ivelisse: You're a Hufflepuff on both HOL and Pottermore, correct? How does it feel to be a badger through and through, and what do you think makes you a Hufflepuff for sure?
Hermionie: Yep, I am a double Hufflepuff :D! It feels great to be a badger through and through, because it gives me confidence that I have a "set" personality. Being a badger through and through makes it easier for me to understand myself, as well as identify key character traits I possess. I think what definitely makes me a Hufflepuff is my ability to forgive others easily. I'm not a person who wants to hold a grudge. I try my best to have a clean slate with everyone. I understand that people make mistakes, as well as the fact that people may make choices I don't agree with. Holding grudges doesn't make things any easier. I forgive people because I know everyone is human, and that we all don't function the same way. So really, I think this "logic" I have is what really makes me a Hufflepuff.

Ivelisse: What makes you the most proud of Hufflepuff House?
Hermionie: I think what makes me most proud of Hufflepuff house is the fact that the people here are so down to earth. They are just like actual badgers, warm and cuddly. Also, not to offend other houses, but I think Hufflepuff has been the most drama-free. I look to HOL as a place to relax after a long day of RL. It would suck to come back to drama. Luckily, the Hufflepuffs have mostly prevented that from happening.

Ivelisse: Was there ever a moment when you suddenly realized you belonged in this house?
Hermionie: At first I thought that because I'm intelligent, I should be a Ravenclaw. But then I realized that being a Ravenclaw is more than that. Ravenclaws are really thoughtful and in-depth. In HOL at least, I want to kick back and just have a good time. When I realized that's what the Hufflepuffs are about, I instantly knew Hufflepuff was the place for me.

Ivelisse: What was your reaction when you found out you were accepted into the Mini Prefect program?
Hermionie: LOL oh dear goodness I was ecstatic. I was just so happy to be able to help out my house in such a cool way. I mean, the things we get to do in the program are just so much fun :D. I also want to be a Prefect one day, so this program made me feel like I was a step closer to fulfilling the dream. I just love the rights and extra-stuff Minis get to do.

Ivelisse: You're the most experienced Mini Prefect of the lot in Hufflepuff. Do you feel like there's pressure to be a good role model for not only your house, but your fellow Minis?
Hermionie: I don't feel so much pressure, really. All the Minis are fabulous as is. I don't know if the other Minis look up to me, but if they do, I do find it important to show I am devoted to this position and my house in general. Really, though, I don't feel quite different from the other Minis, even if I have been one longer. At the end of the day, all the Minis have the same goal, so it doesn't matter who's been around longer and such.

Ivelisse: You run the roleplay area with Rilla and the Kitchens with Violeta - you've also worked with plenty of other badgers in projects. What are Hufflepuffs like as work partners?
Hermionie: The Hufflepuffs are extremely reliable as work partners. I mean, we ARE hard workers for a reason! Seriously, working on projects with other badgers is a breeze, because they make it so easy! Not to mention, there are barely any disagreements, as far as I have seen in working with other Hufflepuffs. They are so darn cooperative, sometimes I wish I could do everything with a work partner!

Ivelisse: You're pretty fond of all the other houses in HOL. Do you feel that if you were at Hogwarts, you'd get along with the canon houses just as well?
Hermionie: Honestly, I think the view on other houses in the HP books is kind of biased. I think the books are very "Gryffindor rules, Slytherin sucks!", while Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw aren't mentioned too often at all. So really, I don't know all the canon houses too well, so I can't really answer this clearly, sorry!

Ivelisse: Describe your first encounter with Parker for me.
Hermionie: Parker has never really singled me out, so I haven't had any real encounters with him. Except when he kidnapped Prof. Anya. Oh yes, I was mad. The whole "GET PARKER!" brigade...I was a part of it >_>.

Ivelisse: Are you afraid of sheets with holes in them?
Hermionie: Heck no.

Ivelisse: Well, thank you Herms! It`s been a blast getting to know you.
Hermionie: Thanks for the interview Ive! It was fun :)
