Hufflepuff Survey 2008

Report from Prof. Anya Chutney

As some of you might remember, we decided to get feedback from our students this term — in the form of a Hufflepuff Survey. We were lucky enough to have 22 students (and staff) who took a minute out of their days to let us know what they think of the way things are around the Sett. Many thanks to each and every one of you!

So, then — what did everyone have to say?

59.1% of you check the Sett at least once a day. That's actually very encouraging! The more folks we have online, the more active our House will be!
22.7% check the Sett now and again — maybe once a month. We need to find a way to get these folks back more often, if possible.

What about House contests? 63.2% of you entered a few contests this year — that's great! While two of you didn't know we had contests. Must get the word out more, it seems!
Almost all of you (over 90%) participate in classes on HOL. That's amazing — and is one of the main reasons we have won the House cup in past years! About half of you take part in our Games Tent, while a fair number of folks also take part in actual HOL contests, the Dorms, and our Badger Bookshelf!

What were you expecting when you became a part of Hufflepuff? That's a question that has quite a few answers!

You like the Dorms — some of you miss our Kingdoms. Most of you like our Games — with a reminder to keep them fresh and active! The RPG area is another popular area on the Sett.
And, a few of you think that our House differs greatly from the books. Most of HOL does on some level — but, I hope everyone will find Hufflepuff to be a friendly and inviting House in which to live!

Many of you seem to enjoy hearing the news from around HOL and the Sett. That is always something I love to hear. We'll try to get more news out more often.

When it comes to being familiar with things Sett related — almost all of you know the name of at least one Hufflepuff Prefect and almost all of you are familiar with our Citrine and Adopt a Badger programs. There is some interest in developing a Homework Buddies program. *makes a note*
As to interests — a monthly update from me (your HoH) in regards to news? I could certainly go for that!

You'd like to see an invitation go out to the other houses so that they may take part in our Games Tent. You'd like to join a committee that updates all of HOL with news from the Sett. And, many of you'd like to submit to the Wizarding Times.

There's also a fair amount of interest in having more items available in our Citrine shop and in joining our Facebook or LiveJournal community (which you can already do!).
We also had a few parting comments from our survey-takers. They'd like to see more activity around our house — more interest from our newbies, as well as a continued level of interest from older students. And, as always, more Quidditch!

Our students are the lifeblood of our House. You are the pieces that make up the whole of Hufflepuff (along with our staff and administrators). And, we are always open to your suggestions, concerns, and ideas. These are the things that make us a community!
