A Brand New Year
It's September — Beds have been claimed, new friendships started, old friendships renewed, robes pressed (for now), cauldrons buffed to a high gleam, and quills filled with new ink.
The hallways are filled with excited new Students, Professors, and Student Teachers. Voices can be heard from every corner — talking of Quidditch, schoolwork, fashion, and what we all did on our summer vacation.
Soon the days will be shorter and crisper, and the nights will be spent huddled around the common room fireplace, telling ghost tales and sharing stories. In short, another school year has begun.
I've been a member of HOL for six years, now. I've seen a lot of things change — and a lot of things stay the same. I've had the joy of creating lasting friendships throughout this site. I've had the joy of seeing my House and my students excel.
Hufflepuff earned the House Cup again last Spring. We worked hard for it and enjoyed the challenges we faced throughout the school year. I am so very proud of my House. Never forget that!
What will this year bring us? I would hope that we can continue to grow our friendships throughout HOL — that we can learn from each other and learn to support one another — no matter of which House we are a part.
Every single one of us came here because we had a love of this fandom. We have created our own special family here. I hope that in the coming year (and years), we can remember to respect the members of this family and to find a way through our differences. That's what this community is all about.
I wish each and every one of you a wonderful term. I'll see you around the hallways!
Sincerely,
Prof. Anya Chutney
Head of House, Hufflepuff
