The HoH is Away! Thread 6 - Your Side of the Story

Question: How did you come to know of the party? What are your initial thoughts about it? Do you think we will be able to pull this off? To give our other visitors some idea, what are you wearing for the party? What are your expectations for the party? I came to know of the party during one of my daily visits to the common room! My initial thoughts? I thought, what fun! It's like when children are finally old enough to be left alone without a babysitter! Lol! I do believe we will be able to pull this off, as we have so far My outfit for this party will be a long, flowy dress, golden yellow in colour as to represent Hufflepuff! Question: What part of the party do you enjoy the most, the dance floor, or some board and card games with friends, or the foods and drinks? Maybe some more private time outside, enjoying the night skies and evening wind? Any interesting happening in the party that is one for the books? My favourite part of any party or get-together is always the food! I provided some of the appetizers and I have to say, I did enjoy my own food I brought very much! Although the other dishes were delectable as well! I also absolutely LOVED how the common room was decorated! A big kudos to the decorators involved! Question: What are your exit strategies in case our HoH Fels unexpectedly arrive earlier, witnessing the party at its peak? Though I think that would not happen (given some alarms we set up earlier ). How do you plan on helping after the party, making sure that no remnants of the party are seen or felt or tasted or sensed? Any help would do so I thank you for your answers. Oh no! As only a Second Year, unfortunately I don't have the ability to apparate, however I do have the power to make objects disappear! I would immediately begin to use the Vanishing Spell Evanesco to clean up the mess left over by the party go-ers. I would apologize to our lovely Head of House, and then offer to be a part of the clean up crew! Everyone get out your wands to get this common room back to being "common!" -

I'll bring some FOOD! More specifically, the appetizers! Enchanted Fried Pickles resembling Frogs which jump away from you much like Chocolate Frogs but these are deep fried and and the frogs are a pickle consistency! Crackling Egg Rolls which, when broken or eaten, emit a burst of tiny fireworks. Rotating Charcuterie Board that replenishes with a different food item each time one is taken, no one will have eaten the same item! All are unique! Dancing Dip will be available as when you dip your food into it, your body will immediately begin to dance! No matter if there is music playing or not! Dragon Kebabs, will produce a coloured flame from the eater's mouth, the colour depending on the mood of the eater. Also made with "Beyond Dragon Meat" so it's vegan and vegetarian friendly! -

Wonder of Giraffes - Week 2 - Discussion
Evie Figg replied to Amy Darvill's topic in Wonders of the World
Drawing from the Ancient Egyptians and the significance giraffes held for them, it was easy to say that they respected the giant animal very much. In those times, they believed giraffes were a symbol of communication, as well as intuition and "attaining the impossible". Giraffes were revered, as they were taller than any creature, which, they believed, enabled them to for-see or for-tell. It wasn't only the Ancient Egyptians who believed in this, there were many cultures who were influenced by this strong, striking animal. The Ancient world believed giraffes to be peaceful creatures, as they symbolized sincerity, kindness, as well as the "union of force between the Earth and sky." All over Africa, people have been contributing the the significance in which giraffes hold on this world. They have truly made a unique mark, as no other animal has come close to them in the past, nor do I believe another will come close to them in the future. -

Wonder of Giraffes - Week 1 -Discussion
Evie Figg replied to Amy Darvill's topic in Wonders of the World
While I do agree with Charles Darwin's theory as to why giraffes have such long, large necks, I do also want to elaborate on the grazing aspect of his theory. I do believe that giraffes necks are such grand in scale as to make it much easier for them to reach such tall, vast heights atop the trees, that other mammals cannot so easily reach. Giraffes happen to eat the leaves of Acacia trees, which can be a very tall feat for a smaller animal. Giraffes can easily just walk up to a tree, and reach out and munch onto the leaves located on the tallest branch! Only birds and other climbing animals would be able to meet them up there! These animals are such a unique creatures, as their necks make such a significant factor to their entire image and reputation. Although I do wish it were possible to own them, and ride atop our own giraffes like we do horses. The ride and view would be so spectacular! -

Week Four - Real Classics - Discussion
Evie Figg replied to Prof. Felicia Hartwick's topic in Sleigh Ride
Unfortunately I have never seen either of these movies. I am well aware they exist, and have seen many clips and references of them throughout my life. Watching my favourite tv shows or movies, characters would reference these movies, and try to mirror their own lives after the characters in them. I know many people are well aware of It's a Wonderful Life, and it's premise, however I am sure there are a fair amount of people who have never seen it, such as myself. I actually just saw an article recently about how It's a Wonderful Life is technically not even a Christmas movie at all, somewhat a similar debate as the Die Hard one. Nonetheless, these movies remain classics, and I am surely open to viewing them sometime in the future. Older movies aren't usually my thing, however the rare classics do make their way onto my viewing lists. -
