Molasses Cookies
Ingredients:
- 1/4 Cup Molasses
- 1/2 Cup shortening
- 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F
- Mix the Molasses, shortening, brown sugar, and egg in a large bowl, blending well.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and baking soda.
- Add mixtures together to form cookie dough.
- Take teaspoonfuls of dough, and arrange them about an inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets
- Bake the cookies for 7-10 minutes until lightly browned and crisp. Let cool for about 5 minutes.
Brown Edge cookies
- 1 cup softened butter (1/2 lb.)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 well beaten egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 1/8 t. salt
- add decorations if you wish
- Cream together butter and sugar, beat in egg and vanilla until light. Stir in flour and salt.
- Drop teaspoons of the dough about 2 inches apart on a well-greased cookie sheet.
- If you are adding decorations on top, do it now
- Bake at 350 degrees F for about 15 minutes, or until edges have browned
- let cool before eating & enjoying
Snickerdoodles
- 1 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 3/4 cup flour
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
For topping:
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- blend well
- Mix butter, sugar, and eggs. Then add in the rest of the ingredients.
- Roll dough into walnut-sized balls, and roll them in sugar-cinnamon mixture
- Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 8-10 minutes in a 400 degree oven
