Molasses Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 Cup Molasses
  • 1/2 Cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F
  2. Mix the Molasses, shortening, brown sugar, and egg in a large bowl, blending well.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and baking soda.
  4. Add mixtures together to form cookie dough.
  5. Take teaspoonfuls of dough, and arrange them about an inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets
  6. Bake the cookies for 7-10 minutes until lightly browned and crisp. Let cool for about 5 minutes.

Brown Edge cookies

  • 1 cup softened butter (1/2 lb.)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 well beaten egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/8 t. salt
  • add decorations if you wish
  1. Cream together butter and sugar, beat in egg and vanilla until light. Stir in flour and salt.
  2. Drop teaspoons of the dough about 2 inches apart on a well-greased cookie sheet.
  3. If you are adding decorations on top, do it now
  4. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 15 minutes, or until edges have browned
  5. let cool before eating & enjoying

Snickerdoodles

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 3/4 cup flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt

For topping:

  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • blend well
  1. Mix butter, sugar, and eggs. Then add in the rest of the ingredients.
  2. Roll dough into walnut-sized balls, and roll them in sugar-cinnamon mixture
  3. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 8-10 minutes in a 400 degree oven
