Interview with SQT Captain Faye Roderick
(This is a spontaneous conversation with the Slytherin Quidditch Team Captain, Faye Roderick. There has been some editing and putting together of sentence phrases, but basically what you see is what we said. &mdash Tarma)
Tarma: are you heeereeee? this is Tarma - as you can see - and it's YOUR turn for an interview *G* for the Wizarding Times ((Quidditch team thing))
RodericK: lol oh -- do I really need to be interviewed? XD
RodericK: Ash has sent me questions for interview too and i havent replied it yet lol
Tarma: *G* I can do it NOW if you like :D -- no questionnaire or anything
RodericK: LOL -- erm okie sure, go ahead, I'm writing a report at the moment but I can be distracted :P
Tarma: do you have time/inclination to do it now?
Tarma: *snap*
RodericK: lol
Tarma: okay --- turns on recorder:
Tarma: Folks, now I am interviewing Faye Roderick, captain of the Slytherin Quidditch Team
Tarma: Faye, I know that the Slytherin Team, for a while was nonexistent and that it was, I think, YOU, who kept it together once a start was made again?
RodericK: LOL
RodericK: erm well, there was that gap year(s?) when SQT was inactive
Tarma: *nods* yes, I remember, we had a 3-team sort of year
RodericK: Paddy would like to have SQT revived again, and at first I wasn't the Captain, it was Tamb so I think it wasn't just me who had a hand at reviving SQT again -- [and] I've learned a lot from the players from other teams too
Tarma: I remember that Tamb was there, yes, and very loud about getting the SQT going again but he disappeared or something? and sort of left the team basket in your lap?
RodericK: yeah, he got busy with real life
Tarma: so what did you do then?
RodericK: I was also very new to quiddy, I TRIED to play during summner quiddy league, and I was hooked. and I was motivated to help Slytherin have a proper quiddy team.
Tarma: oh REALLY? so you were new to Quidditch when you were putting the team together, or keeping it together and adding to it?
RodericK: during my first year of quiddy activity, I learned a lot from other senior players -- I was completely new when we started the team again -- Missa, Alexia, and Narci contributed a lot to the basic knowledge of quiddy that i know now :)
Tarma: wow -- when was that? do you remember which school year it was? -- (I just remember it was a ? couple of years ago, or something)
RodericK: erm - I joined in december 2005, played in summer league 2006, started SQT in september that same year also
RodericK: I went through two terms (HOL was on three terms per school year back then) without even thinking that i could play quiddy
Tarma: *nods* so school year 2006/2007
Tarma: what was the one thing you remember most from each of those people that you list?
RodericK: Missa helped me to learn how to organize a team, how to set up a bot and reffing -- Alexia and Narci introduced me to snitch game and taught me how to play and ref the game -- and i fell in love with snitching XD -- there were sooo many snitch games we hosted between the three of us
Tarma: *giggles* I like the snitching, sure, it is those PUZZLES that ... kill me ... okay not kill me, literally, but me and puzzles ... yes, I remember, there was a time where it was like a RASH of snitch games :)
RodericK: :D
Tarma: so, bringing our interview up to this year -- (and congratulations, by the way, on developing and keeping your team going) -- what would you say are the strengths and weaknesses of your team?
RodericK: too bad now we're all too busy to have snitch practice as often as we'd like to lol -- im not sure im supposed to be discussing my team's weaknesses to a Hufflepuff! lol -- but ill tell you a little bit :P
Tarma: name individual members if you want, in fact, please do name people :) because we've all seen them in play -- tell us something about your Snakes!
RodericK: for strengths, right now i dont think we're at our strongest point this year, but what i like about SQTers is that theyre very relaxed and there are very little drama in our team -- theres hardly any conflicts between anyone, and if we stumble upon something, we always talk it out with each other -- as for weaknesses, i think our weakness is being easily distracted lol -- distracted with silly stuff, such as facebook games...
Tarma: OH? -- during a practice? :o
RodericK: lemme be honest with you, we havent had any practice at all since the beginning of this year.
RodericK: :P
Tarma: OH
Tarma: this literal year OR the school year?
RodericK: school year lol
Tarma: you know, Meg played wonderfully this last game -- she REALLY had a good blocking rate -- I did stats ... and darn lost the paper
RodericK: Meg is fantastic, thats all i can say about her. shes dedicated, and shes always well prepared for all the matches
Tarma: but I think she had around a 50% blocking
RodericK: thats why shes my co-captain XD
Tarma: yes, she is really good and she is ... ? ... FUN
Tarma: yeah, she's a GOOD Co-Captain :) I think you chose well there -- but you have others, too, who have shown a great ability
RodericK: *nods* me and Meg are both working on fixing our practice schedule and also adding more people into our team
Tarma: good! how are you going about doing that? (besides having this interview that everyone will read and then want to join your team *cg*)
RodericK: we have people coming and going from time to time, its hard because you know, real life can get in the way, so it is bound to happen
Tarma: yes
Tarma: I've encountered RL and it was rather in the way for a while ...
Tarma: you have one of the smallest houses, too, in HOL
RodericK: *nods*
Tarma: kind of like hufflepuff -- we've just not that many people TO have on the team ... it's really a challenge
Tarma: would you like to mention any ... idiosyncratic traits of members of your team? *HALO*
RodericK: right now we're trying to figure out a GOOD formula for everyone in our team, so that they can practice better, we're still working on that :)
RodericK: er Im not even sure whats the meaning of idiosyncratic
Tarma: personality traits
RodericK: ah okie
Tarma: needing to have their rubber duckie at all games -- or ... have to go out and run a mile before a game something like that
RodericK: LOL oh definitely!
Tarma: so tell me one thing for each member of your team, including YOU
RodericK: we blast our music as loud as we can before a match -- i prefer some rock n roll music, while others choose upbeat music and hip hop music!
Tarma: *laughs!*
RodericK: i think everyone in the team have a 'quiddy playlist' lol
Tarma: that would be TERRIBLE if your sound systems were combined *G*
Tarma: you know ... I did that, do that, for 'my' games --and find that I play better with some CDs than with others
RodericK: *nods* exactly like that.
Tarma: ((or, maybe, my 'mood' matches certain CDs and thus when I'm in a certain mood, I play a certain CD which means that that is what is determining my play?))((hmm)) -- so what do YOU play? -- and also, in your answer, comment : you usually play Seeker?
RodericK: lol i cant imagine what it would be like, if all of SQTers are put in one room together during a match, i think we wont be able to play the match because we would be laughing our teeth off at each other -- yeah im the designated SQT seeker, for the moment :) -- because everyone else is terrified at learning snitch? lol
Tarma: is it 'snitch'? -- or is it the puzzles? -- because SNITCH is actually fun, in my opinion,
RodericK: yeaaah -- you know snitch requires you to be able to multitask -- and getting used to THAT is quite a task
Tarma: yeah, but multitasking is one thing, multitasking WITH solving a puzzle ...
Tarma: so what do YOU listen to when you play?
RodericK: lol i know, some people thinks logic puzzles are scary, but i believe with proper practice, you can do it
Tarma: ... :P I CAN do it ... but it's discouraging when I do it, and take 20 minutes, for example, and then Cosmo does the same thing in 10 minutes
while doing something else
RodericK: because i started out very lame at seeking and solving puzzles, it took me 30 minutes to solve a puzzle the first time i tried it out
Tarma: OH? so you found out that practicing them helped you gain speed?
RodericK: and i practiced on my own, doing puzzles when i have free time, i can do 10 puzzles a day, and
now i normally take 5-10 mins to solve a puzzle, though it depends on the puzzle too :P
Tarma: wow
Tarma: if i was wearing a hat, I'd take it off to you *G*
RodericK: and the music that i play during quiddy matches: some Bob Dylan, i like Locksley too, and what else hrmm..
Tarma: oohh Bob Dylan? what specifically?
RodericK: i love, LOVE, the album Blonde on Blonde and Highway 61 Revisited-- i need to have upbeat songs when i play quiddy so i usually play those albums
Tarma: *NODS*
RodericK: oh and Mars Volta's Goliath is definitely my theme song for quiddy :))
Tarma: that is what I found -- gotta be upbeat / 'awake' -- oh? I might have to find that to listen to :)
RodericK: im not sure youd like Mars Volta, it might be too loud for you, but its a great song, i think
Tarma: hmm, I think that I will wind this down -- is there anything you'd like to say, that I haven't asked about?
RodericK: er, id like to applaud HQT for your success this year
Tarma: oh? ahhh, gee *blush*
RodericK: i think youve developed your strength soooo much compared to last year
Tarma: we've got a good batch of folks -- although we could use more players too --
RodericK: this is your year, guys XD
Tarma: :D
Tarma: we played a surprising good game with Ravenclaw *cg* -- hee hee even
RodericK: that was a very good game
Tarma: yes it was SO exciting!!! very very very much fun
RodericK: lol indeed -- too bad i was reffing snitch so i couldnt watch the quaffle, would love to see the game!
Tarma: the log will be up I think some time soon, if it isn't already
Tarma: anything about YOU and the TEAM that you'd like to say?
RodericK: theres not much i would like to say for the team, except that i love all my SQTers greatly and deeply XD
Tarma: ahhhh <33
Tarma: Thank you, Faye!!! and I hope this article inspires more Snakes to join your team :)
RodericK: thanks for interviewing me lol
