Wouldn't You Like to Know...

By Alexandra Lupin

Alexandra Lupin (Alex): Hello and welcome to the first edition of "Wouldn't You Like To Know"! This month's star is our very own Head of House, PROFESSOR OLIVIA! -motions with wide arms to the chair in front of her where Professor Olivia was currently sitting-

Professor Olivia (Liv): -waves to audience- It's great to be here, Alex.

Alex: Well, it is great to have you here as well, Professor. Now, I have a list of questions that our Badgers have gathered together so we can get to know you better. This is also great for our new ickle Badgers just coming in! -winks to all new Badgers- So, are you ready to start the interview Professor?

Liv: Bring them on, Alex.

Alex: Very well, question number one. How long have you been Head of Hufflepuff house?

Liv: I have been honored to be Head of Hufflepuff House since August of 2004.

Alex: What is it like to be a Head of House? Is the workload bigger than just a regular professor or the same?

Liv: The most important thing is to be blessed with amazingly creative and hard working people who make my job extremely easy. There are a lot of organizational things to be done every day, which I could never do alone, and I thank my wonderful Professors, Prefects, Sprouts and students for their dedication and willingness to toil. *g*

Alex: Were you just a teacher before you became Head of House?

Liv: Yes, my teaching career began when I applied to teach Flick & Swish (or Charms) in January of 2004.

Alex: If so, how would you describe that experience?

Liv: I knew it was the right thing for me. I absolutely love reading the homework from students. The students' creativity and sheer silliness, sometimes, is a rewarding experience and to know that I had a hand in inspiring such excellent work is very gratifying.

Alex: What advice do you have for our young badgers who are looking into or might be looking into becoming a professor?

Liv: I think it's a great opportunity and can be very rewarding. My only bit of caution would be to really look at the coming term and make sure they have the time to devote to creating the lessons, assignments, grading and awarding points. It can be time consuming, but in most cases, worth every minute.

Alex: Is it true you wrestle three hippogriffs before breakfast every day except Friday (when you limit it to two because of needing to listen to Gilderoy Lockhart's radio show "Magical Me in Colours")?

Liv: That's just a rumor! There is no proof to that! Gilderoy Lockhart's show airs on Thursdays! *cg* (which is a cheeky grin)

Alex: Is it true that you secretly market your own brand of hair solution that keeps your tresses shiny, bouncy, yet manageable?

Liv: I'm sorry, I'm not at liberty to discuss the secrets of my hair care....*g*

Alex: Were you always a professor, or were you once a student? And if you were a student, what was your student name?

Liv: I began my career at HOL as a student, Olivia Kerne. I enjoyed taking classes and earning points, however, I was a little too curious in Potions class...

Alex: What do you find to be the most effective method to combat Parker?

Liv: I don't think there is an effective way. Some days it's just enough to make it through a corridor without getting hit with a water balloon. I suggest all First Years travel in pairs and possibly with a Second or Third Year for protection!

Alex: What do you love making your prefects get you from the Huffle Kitchen most?

Liv: Oh my goodness, those Chocofrog Brownies are delicious! But, unfortunately, I can only have 2-3 dozen a week.

Alex: It seems that a few people would like to know where you keep the key to the butterbeer cupboard.

Liv: As if I would tell them! It's bad enough I can't find the Precious!

Alex: What are your secrets when it comes to practicing Quidditch?

Liv: If I tell them, they won't be secrets anymore ;) But, if I had to give advice, it would have to be bot, bot and bot some more... and don't use the hints! They make you lazy and slow *nods* Bot with others to help you to answer faster.

Alex: Were you happy to be sorted into Hufflepuff House or if you would have wanted to be in another house, which would it be?

Liv: My only reservation in being sorted into Hufflepuff was that I joined with two other friends and we were all sorted into different Houses. However, it all worked out for the best because I am where I belong; I'm home.

Alex: Well that is all the time we have for questions, that and we are all out of questions. *g* Special thanks to Professor Olivia for joining us -waves wand so a series of applause is heard all around-

Liv: -stands up and takes a bow-

Alex: And thank you to everyone who submitted their questions for this month's addition of "Wouldn't You Like To Know" hosted by your one and only Alexandra Lupin! Make sure you check The Sett forum on October 1st HOL time to see who next month's star is! See ya next month!

-Both Alex and Liv wave to everyone-
