"Merry Christmas!" - her Sageliness

It's the festive season, and while her Sageliness does not go "ho ho ho", she does have some wise thoughts for the holidays.

Christmas is a time for giving. This season, no matter what religion you believe in, you can make someone's day by giving him or her a wonderful present wrapped in festive cheer. No gift is too small, and in fact, it may be the tiniest things that touch people's hearts.

You may write a letter to a friend you haven't met up with for a long time, telling him or her how much they've been missed; or perhaps you could spend a day with your friends and loved ones, and tell them how much you love them. You don't need something tangible, or a huge expensive gift to make someone happy - really, it's the thought that counts.

I like this story about a little girl who gives her dad a present, and when he opens the box, he sees that it is empty. He gets mad and yells at his daughter - doesn't she know that it is wrong to give someone a present with nothing inside? The girl then replies in a small voice, "But I blew lots of kisses inside before I gave it to you."

Do little things like that for your loved ones and friends, make their Christmas a little more special. Put thought into your gifts. Wrap it up with love. Give it to them with sincerity. Add their favourite ice-cream flavour to a tankard of butterbeer and give them a toast. Polish their broom till it's gleaming. Eat the horrible Every Flavour Beans for them. Anything goes with festive cheer. Here's wishing everyone a very happy Christmas and a wonderful new year.
