Huffie's Angels

So, when people ask me what I do in my spare time I tell them that I'm an Angel. No. Seriously, I am an Angel, one of Huffie's Angels. You can laugh all you like, but it's our job to protect Hufflepuff from danger, like Parker, and certain unkind professors. Don't believe me? Well you should. There are four angels now, I'm Jill, and then there's Sabrina, Kelly, and Kris. I don't remember how long we've been friends, but I do remember the first case we worked on all together.

One late summer morning we were all called to help with a messy situation, really messy. Ok, so more messy than usual. This time there was chocolate pie involved. The night of the Huffle Spirit Committee's Award Party, the head of house Professor Fumbleknot has been attacked with a pie. Two nights later Professor Twylantern was also attacked. Students hadn't been targeted yet, but everyone knew it was only a matter time. That's where we were called in.

"Jill, what do you make of it?" Sabrina said as we looked at the scene, there was cream filling and pie tins all over.
"No idea," I replied, "Have you heard from Bosley or Kelly yet?"
"Bosley just told me to get you and meet here, he'd have Charlie's instructions then."

While we waited we talked for a bit about the state of the Ministry, global warming; you know issues that matter. What? Not buying it? Oh all right, so we talked about the newest catalogues from Calvin Kappas and Kenneth Troll. I mean, it was fall people, all those new outfits. Besides it was time for a major Angel Makeover, we hadn't gotten new outfits for several weeks, and it had been suggested that the Angels would look good in pleather. Soon we heard footsteps approaching from the hall.

"Well so I told him, if you believe that, I have a bridge in New York to sell you." The voice was unmistakably Kelly's. We heard Bosley laugh as the two of them came into the room.

"Sorry, I was just chatting with the Owl Ex guy," Kelly said as she came over.
"So, Bosley, what do you have for us?" said Sabrina looking excited.
"Well Angels, I got an owl from Charlie," Bosley said as he took a piece of parchment from an inside pocket of his robe. "Yes, he sends his love, hopes that Kelly's over her cold, and oh yes here it is. 'Angels, doubtless you've noticed that the Huffle Common Room is about to become a never-ending pie toss. I don't have much to tell you except that the Head of House, Professor Fumbleknot is worried. She was the one to be hit with the first pie, and is worried about the students. The first attack was a two nights ago after a house party. I'm counting on you good luck Angels. Charlie.' That's it, so where should we start?"

"Let's go and find Professor Fumbly, since she was the one hit first." Said Kelly, grabbing the parchment and scanning it.

We went to Fumbly, who was tidying up her Kinda Ancient Runes classroom. "Well the first time, I was just taking a walk through the common room, I'd made myself some turkey soup and was just heading off to make sure everyone was tucked in for the night. When I noticed that the door had been left open and I slipped on what I thought was another of Parker's water balloons. When I stood up started cleaning my robes off, I was hit from behind. I turned to see what it was and was hit again. I remember hearing someone running out of the common room, but that's it. There was no note, nothing left there, and it was really creepy. Two nights later Tweedy.I mean, Professor Twylantern was attacked the same way, though I think she had been cleaning up some bags and papers from Kenneth Troll."

"Kelly," I said adjusting my Angel boots, "take down these notes. I'll need them later." Kelly grabbed a piece of parchment and a quill, "Ready," she said.

"Dearest Calvin," I started, "Thank you so much for your last shipment of shoes. They were totally awesome. I loved the red pair of heels you sent they were my favorite. I can't find them now, but I think I may know who has them. Hugs and kisses. Love, Jill" I finished, looking pointedly at Kelly.

"What?" she said, "It's his own fault for sending you red heels. They always go to me."
"Right, but Jill, what does that have to do with this case?" said Sabrina.
"Nothing, I just didn't want to forget." I said fixing my hair. We walked back to the Sett, to the scene of the crime. "Anyway, Fumbly, so there was no evidence left behind?"
"Nothing, but the pie tins that are in my office, I'll get them for you." She said, "We had a party earlier in the afternoon to celebrate with the House Spirit Award winners. I'm just worried that who ever did this, might target students next." Fumbly excused herself to finish her grading and Sabrina went with her to get the evidence.

"Well I guess we can question some of the students about this. Maybe someone's noticed something." Said Sabrina, returning five minutes later. We nodded and set off in the direction of the quidditch team room. We didn't have much luck finding out much about the balloon, though Kelsey, one of the captains and a prefect told us she had noticed a can of whipped cream in the Girls dorm, near the dressers. Ron Diggory, a chaser, told us he'd seen a pie tin in the brooms after the last game when the brooms and contents of everyone's lockers ended up in the middle of the floor.

"It's low fat whipped cream," I noted, dryly as we sat in the shade of a large tree.
"Seriously Jill, how does that help us at all?" said Kelly playing with the petals of a wild flower.
"It doesn't, I just wanted to make a random note." I said, shrugging.
"Well, it's obviously the same person doing all of this." Said Sabrina, "but none of it makes sense."
Just then Bosley came walking over, "Any luck Angels?" he asked brightly.
"It's low fat whipped cream." I said.
"Jill's just full of helpful information today." Said Kelly, smiling. "Do you have any other news?"
"A bit," he said nodding, but you're going to have to follow me to see this.

Well that's it. Ok, so it's not all of it. But did you honestly think a story like this was going to end in one episode? Didn't think so. I bet you're wondering where the pies came from, and where Kris fits in. All in good time. But at least now you believe that I'm an Angel. So that's us, Huffie's Angels, Kelly, Sabrina, Kris and Me, Jill. It's our job to keep the students of Hufflepuff safe and look good doing it.

Jill Monroe.
