Eve Roarke Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 REPOST!!!! Hello everyone!! Sorry for the long absence, but I am trying to get things going again with Professor Felicia Hartwick's blessing and assistance I would like to start again with some discussion posts and PUZZLES!! I wanted to see how all of you feel about it though. I will do my best to post a discussion or two and a couple of puzzles a month. I wanted to get everyone's feelings on the idea and what kinds of puzzles and/or discussions they would like. You may respond to this topic or in a private message to me. So, let me know if you enjoy the discussions and if there are any particular topics you would like to talk about! I was posting Fallen Letters and Trivia puzzles. Let me know if you liked these and/or if you would enjoy some other types of puzzles also then I could mix things up a bit. If you enjoy the types of puzzles I was doing we can keep doing those as well! I appreciate your opinions and look forward to hearing from everyone! I will be happy to give Diamonds for out for your opinions! Each post must be at least 100 words, you can start a new post or respond to someone else’s. Galena May Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Hello Eve! It is a pleasure to meet you! Fallen letters and trivia puzzles sound like something I would love to do. Quotes from Christmas movies, the Christmas portions of the HP books and movies, or quotes from other media that are based on Christmas would be great for this month, as an example, but the possibilities are limitless. The themes could be chosen based on the month /season. I thought it was a really great idea to start this by asking us to write about what each one of us would like to see. That would ensure participation by making sure that you know what are everyone's favorites. I am happy to have some fun with the interests of mine, yours, and others mixed together into a very beautiful monthly/seasonal thing (or whatever the frequency you were planning). Personally, I would also love to see nonogram puzzles based on images related to the season. Since we already have coloring pages and jigsaws in this forum, I wouldn't recommend those. I also think that you could do a creative prompt perhaps with both art/ literary options available (personally I would prefer if you'd let us pick between literature/art ourselves :D), since I didn't see one in Hufflepuff except for the discussions in Wonders of the World. I actually love creative prompts. Or you could pick some media such as a movie or a book and start a discussion on it, I'd love to join in, as would some others I hope. There are musical discussions in a few forums, but rarely any about books/authors for book nerds like me. The Book Club offers some excellent opportunities on that front, but I'd love to see more. And I would also love if it was about movies instead, because except for the main forum, I really miss movie discussions around the castle. Movies and books have so many settings and characters to explore. Since the Slytherins already do arcade games and there is no dearth of puzzles on HOL, maybe I'd not mind a board game similar to Potterium in Gryffindor (maybe something like Snakes and Ladders, somewhat like at the top of the ladder we answer a trivia question to roll the dice again, and if it's the mouth of a snake, we go to its tail and roll again), but if it's going to be a permanent thing, I'd love if there's only one or two rolls of die to do each week/two weeks and the tasks are short (like trivia or unscramble), otherwise it will get tedious. Another thing I absolutely miss is those puzzles like Pictogram or Hangman, maybe like we get one pictorial clue each week or one new correct letter each week, and we can send our guesses by private message for a limited times for pictogram and until our Hangman dies for Hangman. I get that the private message thing and rolling the die could get tedious for you, though. Since this is the Badgers' Sett and so close to the Hogwarts kitchens, it is difficult to walk around amid the aroma of food without doing something food - related. I haven't got ideas but you could start some sort of culinary trivia/discussion/puzzle to match the vibe of Hufflepuff, like the Ravenclaws ruffle their feathers through intellectual debates in "Bird to Differ". I just wanted to say that I completely missed this post, though, until it got pinned. 2
Eve Roarke Posted January 2 Author Posted January 2 Hi Galena May, welcome! I love your ideas! I am running a month behind though because RL got in the way again! I start working again on Monday January 6th and had to do a bunch of training which took forever to complete though I am still not quite done! My post was intended to create responses, like yours. Unfortunately, I did not receive much in the way of responses. I did forget to pin the post when I first posted however. So, maybe I will repost my original post and see if I can move yours to the new one also. Then I will pin it so that maybe it will get peoples attention and get more ideas and feedback on what people would like to see in my little corners! Thank you so much for your feedback!! Eve 1
