  4. I am much like Adeline with the areas that I'd want to have available to me. Actually, once upon a time, I was looking at dome houses - modular ones - for putting up on some property which would be put together so that each dome had at least two access points, to adjoin to other 'rooms' and be easily contained, or closed if need be, to save on heating. The domes would be of different sizes, which would make for interesting arrangements, but the doorways would all be the same size. It's so funny that your diagram looks much like a vertical and horizontal picture of one of what I'd thought up! Depending on the terrain, and where it is, there would be a larger dome with fireplace and book shelves and television (a gathering room). The fireplace might be in the middle, and with a wood stove. This center dome opens into others, which would be a kitchen area, a pantry area, a laundry area, another library and maybe a dining area. There would be at least a couple of half-baths available. Extending out and along would be rooms, like bedrooms and full bathrooms. The placement of these domes, again, depends on the terrain. Maybe they extend outward in, or along, spokes, like a wheel. Or maybe they are put in what would be a spiral pattern. Somewhere in there, adjacent to master bedroom, would be a 'doing stuff' area. Something for making things, sewing, knitting, reading, different kinds of crafts. (Not all the rooms would be easily accessible to all; some would be more 'secure' than others, with items in it which would not be good for children to get their hands on, like some of the herbs and spices, which in and of themselves can be good and healthy, but which can be extremely unhealthy if someone were to ingest too much of them. Also, I might put some things in there which I don't want small hands to grab because they are shiny and sharp, like some craft tools.) Then there would be a dome which is pretty much like a green house. Actually there might be a couple of those, for maintaining at different temperatures and/or humidities, for different kinds of plants. That's the 'plan'. In actuality, there'd be about 8 or 9 domes which are put to multiple purposes. Food, living area, bedrooms, library, bathroom(s), storage.
  5. For a while, a few years, I was able to pretty much make my own schedule and do things which I wanted to do, when I wanted to do it. Busy? Oh, yes, but at my own pace. Then my life changed somewhat and I am now involved with a tribe of peoples in almost an entirely different culture and I find that the one thing I miss most is simply 'reading'. So yes, I've decided, fairly recently, I'm going to resume reading and yes, there are things I need to do, and involvement with the people but ... I want (and probably need) the quiet time of just sitting quietly. I think it important to take the time to recharge one's batteries. Then, enter into the tumult again!
  6. Hi Bowie. Welcome to Hufflepuff and to the Sett. Thank you for liking our Common Room; we like it! I like your Dungeons too .... Help yourself to a muffin or three if you want, and sit by the nice warm fireplace.
  7. The Australian Green Weaver ant is regarded by many as the most beautiful ant in the world. Why is this? Look at that gorgeous iridescent green! Not only is it a lovely shade of green, there are actually more than one shades of green on its body. The Oecophylla smaragdina is most commonly colored a nice orange, but there are many green kinds. This genus of ant forms colonies with multiples nests made of leaves which are stitched together, and built in trees. The leaves are stitched together with the silk produced by the larvae of the ant! That kind of nest is what gives rise to the genus because 'oecophylla' is Greek for 'leaf-house'. For more information, read here . (Yes, it's Wikipedia, who Henry Cavill said he recently read of his death in Wikipedia and he was ... 'what?', so yes, use more than one source of information if you choose to learn more about Oecophylla smaragdina (whose common names include Asian weaver ant, weaver ant, green ant, green tree ant, semut rangrang, semut kerangga, and orange gaster) ).
  8. What amazed me was how the Van just kept expanding in size, the more people came on board. Is that magic, or what? I liked the idea of traveling around, from place to place, and discovering so many 'spooky' aspects of the United States of america. I'd also had no idea there were so many haunted places to find. (Some of them have 'documentation' too, of hauntings, which is even spookier!) It's interesting the various choices of people, of what to listen to, to their responses to 'spooks and haunts', of even who wanted to drive and who wanted to be passengers. Thanks for the novelty of The Mystery Machine!
  9. I spy, with my little eye, a flamingo (as I am driving in Florida ....)
  10. Mr Sandman ... written by Pat Bullard and sung by The Chordettes and was used in in Halloween II (1981) and Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later (1998).
  11. I spy with my little eye - Friesian! I saw this in a pasture off the side of the road while driving through Pennsylvia on the way to Gettysburg.
  12. I don't particularly like listening to ghost stories. My own, real life, experiences are enough for me! My dog, Taya, sees 'things' (is aware of seeing things visually) and tracks them with her eyes, to the point of moving her head to watch them. I know she is not making it up, but is watching something which she senses is actually present. Sometimes she will growl .... I've gotten to where I can sense the presence, like knowing when someone is watching you?, and feel it/them moving around, and that feel of where they are matches completely with where she is watching, and tracking their movement. When she growls, though, and lets it be known she CAN see them, and will go after them ... poof! and they are gone. That's just one example of real life experiences -- so no, I don't need to be listening to ghost stories. There's enough going on without hearing of more! (I will, however, 'listen' to be polite, but will attempt to not be drawn into them, because, along with Sirius, I have an imaginative mind.) Do I watch scary movies? hahahhaa hahahahaaa ha no.
  13. Yummy treat? I will happily drink all varieties of coffee -- well, no, I will happily drink breves (no foam) and lattes (no foam) and black coffee with half and half added. I'm not into 'sweet' drinks so much. But .... I'll drink Bai, too, the straight coconut stuff. Just make sure we make lots of pit stops! As for eating, I'm not so much into eating while travelling, I prefer to eat at a table or at least while sitting down on a stationary sort of chair with lots of room to put whatever I'm eating. *thinks* I have been known to eat some curly fries, though, while in a vehicle. They are not prone to get so messy as some foods and snacks, and aren't so greasy, either. Other than that, I'm quite willing, and have often been the person, to pass along different kinds of snacks, foods and drinks. If I'm driving, though, that goes to someone else. I 'might' sip some coffee while driving, but when I drive, I give attention to my vehicle, the road, other vehicles, pedestrians, trees, ghosts, spooks and assorted and sundry creatures and things which might feel a need to share the road. Oh, yes, and give attention to stop signs and stop lights ....
