  1. I remember seeing Miracle on 34th street and really enjoying it and its theme, even though it's not the type of thing people would assume I would like! Especially seeing the way that a court ruling provided a happy ending was an interesting change of pace, especially in retrospect in 2023. However, from what I know of It's a Wonderful Life, I'm very happy to have NEVER seen that movie; it seems to be one where I - Slytherin as I am - would hate to be in the position of that protagonist. Never mind that I've (OUT OF CHARACTER) been essentially 'stuck' within a relatively small radius for these past few years for other reasons, and would hate to remain that way for the rest of my life... it just feels like... George deserves better and Mr Potter deserves to get actual punishment! Even though Potterville strikes me as a place I would enjoy... regardless of Mr Potter himself!
  2. I haven't watched all of Elf but I've definitely seen bits of it and watched it become a true classic and a valuable canonical reference! It's an interesting and funny movie, yes, and has made me want to learn about how well maple syrup goes with pasta (fun fact: maple syrup is a common ingredient in homemade marinara sauces, so - strictly speaking, it's not all that out of place on pasta! candy, on the other hand...). I was [OUT OF CHARACTER] the right age for Home Alone when it came out - or at least close - but I'm not sure I ever had the chance to watcd that one though I did remember worrying about being stranded like that on actual trips! And of course it ended up being the first of many? But again, this one feels like it's gotten so deeply into pop culture even if the premise becomes - well - increasingly dated over time!
  3. I'm not sure if I've seen any of those, and I haven't even heard of the last one! But I figure I have at least seen some clips from Charlie Brown's Christmas: anything from that series is set in a very interesting universe (OUT OF CHARACTER: I knew I was getting older when, for the latest Peanuts movie, the trombone player they cast to play the 'voice' of the grown-ups was younger than I was!) Thinking further, I'm familiar enough with the Grinch (the Dr Seuss version) from other aspects of pop culture that I kind of have an idea for that one even though I have never sat down through the movie from start to the finish. And as for the Muppets? I know a bit of Muppet stuff - and it makes sense that they'd fit a Christmas carol into that, but... apparently it was released in 1992 - when (again OUT OF CHARACTER) I was the perfect age to see it, but I didn't? And for some reason, as per children's classics, right now the Alvin and the Chipmunks hula-hoop song is going through my head, but was that a Christmas special or just an animated bit that I remembered it being into one?
  4. I'm not sure if I've ever seen any of them from start to finish - though I have a feeling I've seen at least a bit of one of the adaptations of Rudolph as I know his story well enough. Or at least I remember singing the song associated with that one when I was much younger! Even using my out of character age, all three of those movies were a bit before my time - though I've seen claymation in other settings. I'll have to admit it definitely looks like a dated form of art, but maybe it should be best seen as a type of Muggle magic: without using magic, they have to use other tools to make their motion pictures move! I'm more familiar with drawings (either by hand or by computer), but clay seems to work as well for what it does - and even if it's not necessarily to my taste, I have to respect that it produces some true classics!
  5. When listening to scary ghost stories, too often the story goes in one ear and out the other and I'm not so much scared as much as taking it in. But I will say that I remember hearing a scary story on the radio when I was trying to sleep (I wasn't alone in the room at the time) and one specific exclamation kept on randomly being yelled in the story, which kind of made it really hard for me to try and fall asleep!
  6. On the trips I've gone on, I've usually been driving, which makes it difficult to eat most foods. What I often settle for is a coffee drink that does not require both hands and can be sipped in heavy traffic without too much distraction! Maybe a mocha with delicious chocolate as well? Alternatively, depending on the mood I could just have a milkshake for the same reasons...
  7. Normally I'm not a big fan of road trips; I suspect I'd end up being the sleeper for them. And when it comes to ghost hunting, I normally end up being the type of person to stand behind in case something else goes wrong!
  8. I haven't been in one of those types of vehicles in quite some time! I think I'd probably want to sit by a window, near the front, to get a good view... but I might just end up falling asleep during the drive if I'm not driving myself!
