  1. Hello Elyse!

Welcome to the Sett indeed. My welcome's a bit late, so please accept the muffins and butterbeer in exchange.

I'm happy to help you find your way around the Sett and/or HOL. And if neither of us know where to go, at least we'll get lost together. :)

I know the question was not directed at me Prof. Tarma, but I just saw FB3 movie, and oh my lord, I love Newt more with each movie.

  3. I’ve always been fascinated by the ‘fantastic beasts’ part of the movies. It’s been such a pleasure finding out how some creatures look or discovering new ones from other cultures.

We still have two movies to go in the franchise (at least by the original plan), so let me ask you, what magical or mythological creature would you like to see depicted next? Is there a particular creature from your culture that you’d love to see on the big screen? What is it?

Out of those already existing in Harry Potter world, is there a magical creature you’d like to have at home?

Write a post with at least 100 words and earn 15 Diamonds!  If you write another one of at least another 100 words, you can earn additional 15 Diamonds, too.

Note:  Please, do not post twice in a row in a short time!  Wait for someone else to post, or 24 hours, before posting again.

You have until May 14th, 11:59 pm HOL time to earn your Diamonds. If you respond within a week of this being posted, though, you earn an additional 3 bonus Diamonds.

Please, be mindful of the spoilers for the latest movie (trailers’ spoilers are allowed)! Not everyone has the ability to see the movie the moment it came out. Please, mark them appropriately.

  4. There are a couple wonderful new creatures introduced in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

The Qilin is renowned in many places of the world. Different people are aware of this wondrous creature and her attributes. Somewhat oddly, though, the Qilin sometimes takes a somewhat different shape depending on where it manifests (and sometimes is called by a slightly different name)! :o

Choose one of these two Qilin pictures and color it in. You earn 30 Diamonds when you post your picture!

  5. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore doesn't seem to focus on the 'beasts' so much, nothing like the first two movies did. But we still have new creatures showing up! There's the Qilin and Blast-Ended Skrewts which seem new to me!

    nvfv2xuz6k581.jpg?width=533&format=pjpg&

Graphic shows a picture of the Qilin from the FB3 movie.

In the meantime, we can celebrate the Fantastic Beasts to whom we've already been introduced with this 2048.

    Fantastic Beasts 2048

Remember - you start earning Diamonds when the number in the picture (not the SCORE in the upper left hand corner) reads 256.

If you get to 256 (#8) - that is 20 Diamonds  (and counts for partial Challenge Master Diamonds)
If you get to 512 (#9) - that is 25 Diamonds
If you get to 1024 (#10) - that is 30 Diamonds (and counts for full Challenge Master Diamonds)
If you get to 2048 (#11) - that is 35 Diamonds

By the way, you earn a bonus of 3 Diamonds if you send your score to me within a week of me posting this!

Send me a screencap of your game via Sett PM (titled FB3 - 2048) by May 14th, 11:59 PM HOL time to earn your Diamonds.   Please tell me in your PM your 'high' score (the highest number in the picture, not the score above the picture off to the side). Sometimes that 'win' (or 'game over') thing covers up the highest score.

Note: If you continue to play and get a higher score, send it in, and I'll update the post to show your new score.

  6. In the trailer, we see that a Muggle (or a No-Maj), Jacob Kowalski, has visited Hogwarts. Hermione explains in the books that “It’s bewitched.” and “If a Muggle looks at it, all they see is a mouldering old ruin with a sign over the entrance saying DANGER, DO NOT ENTER, UNSAFE.”

Yet, there are exceptions to the rule. Some Muggle parents can enter the castle under extenuating circumstances and we do have Jacob visiting the castle.

Put yourself in the shoes of a Muggle, or a No-Maj. What do you see when you first enter Hogwarts or its grounds? Do you see a mouldering ruin? Maybe the castle in its entire splendor? Alternatively, what do you think Jacob and Muggle parents see and how they deal with it?

We also see Jacob with a wand and it's very unusual, so to say, to see a Muggle with it. How do you think he'll learn to use it? Do you think the lessons differ in each school? How would Hogwarts, Ilvermorny, Beauxbatons or any other school teach a non-magical person to use a wand? Would they even let them?

  7. In Week 2 of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, we are looking at the story line of this adventure.

Sometimes a story line can be indicated by just a few quotes. (They are taken from movie trailers so we don't have any spoilers here)!

Here's something we found significant ....

Click here for larger Fallen Letters puzzle.

  8. Rolling along with Week 2 of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, sometimes we encounter quotes which might seem a little ominous .....

I wondered just what was being referenced when I heard this. (Again, the quote is taken from movie trailers so we don't have any spoilers here)!

Note: The quality and clarity of the numbers is poor. I'm including this smaller version so everyone gets an idea of the puzzle.  The larger Cryptogram shows the numbers in a much more clear manner.

Click here for larger (and vastly more legible) Cryptogram puzzle.

Send me your solution and earn 30 Diamonds.

Title your Sett PM FB3 - Week 2 - Cryptogram.

You have until May 14th, 11:59 PM HOL time to send me your answers!  You earn a bonus of 3 Diamonds, though, if you send them to me within a week of me posting this!

  9. So who are these people who are showing up in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore?

Complete this Jigsaw and discover some familiar faces, along with some new ones!

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore Jigsaw

Solve this Jigsaw puzzle and earn 30 Diamonds.

Post your completed Jigsaw below and earn your Diamonds!  Remember to have both your time and the number of pieces of the Jigsaw in your picture.  Also, be sure to keep your graphic to 600x600 or smaller. (If you forget, the Sett's poltergeist might come along and shrink it for you .... hopefully not to 50x50  :o   ....)

You have until May 14th, 11:59 PM HOL time to post your completed Jigsaw!  You earn a bonus of 3 Diamonds, though, if you do so within a week of me posting this!

  10. There’s nothing like a good story, but what makes a story good are the characters playing their parts. Throughout the first two movies and now in the third, we’re introduced to quite a menagerie of characters that became near and dear to our hearts.

Two characters that have had quite a journey already are undoubtedly Credence Barebone and Queenie Goldstein. Credence went from an orphan troubled by his destructive untapped magic to a person with a (supposedly) close connection to Albus Dumbledore. While Queenie made a journey from a low-level Ministry employee gifted with Legilimency to joining Gellert Grindelwald.

What do you think about their character arcs? Did you expect them to go as they did or were you surprised as you watched the movies and the trailers? Is there anything that you would’ve changed?

You can also touch upon how the characters relate to each other. Is there a bond between two or more characters that you feel particularly attached to? I know I just love the friendship between Newt and Jacob! What is it that makes you like the characters’ bond?
