  1. Ah, Elena.  That is really rotten timing! I wonder ... maybe you are correct in 'why' the timing. Sheesh!  And then to get sick on top of it, that's a really big bah humbug<_<  However, it seems that you filled in your time very productively, while you were awake! :cheer:

Honestly, it really was horrible timing, but honestly I also think it was intentional timing to be honest. The guy that broke up with me like that wasn't exactly 'boyfriend of the year', so I'm really not surprised he broke up with me before a holiday like that. I wasn't expecting much from him for that particular holiday, but he was the kind of guy that wouldn't even want to think about celebrating a holiday like that. You know the character Ryan from The Office? He was like that only worse. But yes! I did manage to spend my time well, at least, ha.

I ... oh, that was yesterday! What did I do yesterday...  Basically waited for snow to melt and ice to melt.  Helped a neighbor move their vehicle out of the way of the main driveway so others could get by (shoveling the snow and then driving the car to get it off the main drive for them). Read a book! :reading: That is always good, and with the being snowed in sort of weather we've been having in this part of the world, I've managed to read a few books.

As for Valentine's Day ... I think sometimes that studying history and having an idea of the source of some of these holidays somehow can cast a damper on them.   At the same time, it's sort of nifty to have chocolate to eat and a good book to read!  I also watched a great deal of Labyrinth (David Bowie ...) and enjoyed that.

I love to study, so I can't really say anything about it putting a damper on the holiday itself, but that's also probably the Eagle in me.  But having chocolate, a good book, and David Bowie are always a great combination!

I would 100% write more, but I'm too lazy to scroll up more XD

  2. Ah, Valentine's Day. I didn't really celebrate the holiday, to be honest. I've never celebrated the day, though it's not from a lack of desire. I've never actually had someone to celebrate Valentine's with; in fact, the last guy I dated in person (I dated another long distance) broke things off with me about a week and a half before Valentine's Day. I'm convinced it's just so he didn't have to really do anything for it, but I'm also bitter about that particular relationship ha.

No, instead I spent my Valentine's Day at home. I was supposed to work from 6-2 that day, but I got really sick. I thought it was food poisoning, but now I'm thinking it's the constant change in the weather. Anyway, I spent the day at home in bed. Most of the day was spent sleeping, but when I was awake I spent my time watching the love of my life, Chris Wood, in The Vampire Diaries. (S/N: I'm forever sobbing that he's engaged now) I didn't get any chocolates or anything like that, but I bought myself some chocolate today to celebrate myself since I wasn't there at work yesterday to do so (I work in a Walmart Supercenter).

  3. My favorite supporting professors are nearly a tie. Professor Flitwick and Firenze. I find it particularly funny that they changed the look of Flitwick so drastically between the second and third movies that people actually thought there was a different actor portraying the character. Even I thought so at first. I love Flitwick's character in general - from his teaching habits to his attitude towards students - but ultimately, my favorite supporting professor will probably always be Firenze. He reminds me of one of my favorite mythological creatures - the centaur, Chiron. He also gave up his life with his less civilized brethren in order to tutor heroes.

I absolutely love Firenze, from his attitude towards teaching to his personality in general. He's such a nice change from some of the other Professors (not that I don't also love them), and I have been drawn to his character from the first moment he appeared in the novels and films. Yes, all the way back in the first film. It's been made pretty clear that the colony living within The Forbidden Forest doesn't like humans, but Firenze is different. He has a pro-human stance, and even risked his life to work at Hogwarts, teaching the students Divination; his position at Hogwarts even cost him his place with the colony, as they banished him from being one of them.

Most importantly, I love the way that he teaches. While I love Trelawney's character, that is almost entirely because she is portrayed by one of my favorite actresses (Emma Thompson). In regards to her actual character, I really don't like the way that she teaches; as a character I like her (I most definitely felt sympathy for her when Umbridge was on the warpath), but as a teacher she would drive me up a wall. It is highly likely I would always be bored in her class, as sad as that might seem. I prefer the type of Divination that Firenze practices, especially since it focuses on studying the planets and other celestial bodies, which is something I love to do.
