  1. I could not find many more legends and myths surrounding black cats but I do have to admit that one thing makes me really sad about them. Due to all of the superstitions surrounding black cats they are less likely to be adopted. It sounds so stupid but it is true. Some people who are very prone to believe in superstitions are strongly against adopting black cats and so their population in animal shelters is quite high. They are also often abandoned. The fact that they are so common in animal shelters is truly upsetting to me and we should try to change it.

  2. One of the superstitious beliefs I have found is that some think that black cats are not black cats at all! They think that black cats are in facts witches! Yup, you read it right! They think that witches decided to hide themselves from the outside world through transforming themselves into cats, black in particular. The origin of this belief comes from Middle Ages when there was a major witch hunt. People at the time thought that to roam safely through the night, witches transformed into black cats in order to spy on people and cast spells to cause misfortune.

  3. I do not believe that black cats are evil. I used to have a cat, which was fully black. I think there is some truth in what Louis had said, that most black cats are usually very shy and took longer to get use to strangers. As I said, I had a black cat called Jerry. He was evil towards Louis quite a lot :D He was so jealous of me that no matter what Louis did. Jerry would not even want treats from Lou, something which was so strange of him, as he loved treats more than anything in the world.
