  1. POP! Fels knew that sound, and so she looked up from her desk and the piles of parchment work that she needed to catch up on after the wonderful Huffleween field trip she and many members of HOL took during October. Of course, there stood Wilber, smiling as he always does when he has good news. “Wilber is here to let the Professor know that the Mystery Machine is all cleaned and ready to be returned to those ghost chasers.” he reported eagerly. “That’s great, Wilber. I’ll be down to cast a charm on it to shrink it down to a toy car size to mail it back to the Mystery Inc. gang.” Fels informed the house elf. The elf’s eyes grew wider at that news, and before he asked, Fels added to her reply. “Don’t worry, it will return to it’s rightful size as soon as they place it on the street. And yes, I’ll write a note on the box to let them know that.” With a quick nod of his head, and another POP, Wilber was gone. “Ok, now back to this announcement.” Fels whispered to herself as she read the parchment that was in front of her. HUFFLEWEEN Now that we have returned to Hogwarts and have finally rested up… I hope, it’s time to announce the Diamond Count for this year’s Huffleween. 2. Black Cats It's the month of October. The time for all things spooky. Ghosts. Witches. Monsters. Zombies. And Black Cats. This month we will look into which countries believe in the superstition that black cats are evil and which countries don't believe that superstition. We will look back in history and try to find where this superstition began. And maybe, why it began. And maybe we'll find out who here believes in that superstition.... maybe.

  5. "Where is everyone? Am I too early?" Sirius muttered in his breath as he looked at the magical thing at his front. For all he knows, there would be a magical road trip among cities in the United States, haunted cities in fact, and look or hunt for ghosts (Parker and hundreds of Hogwarts ghosts is not enough for these adventurous people), or something along that line. For sure, he is excited. Let us wait and see. *still wonders how the journey will take - magically, of course*

  10. It's been a wild 2 weeks here in RL land for the Hartwicks. RL school has been wild...the Kindergarten teacher I work with came down with the flu and I was let to take over and try to figure the planning of lessons for the week. Yes she had some stuff in reserve but actually I was winging it on a wing and a prayer as they say. Then this weekend sinter decided to show up after having been missing for 4 months. Snow, sleet, rain, freezing rain all decided to come at the same time. Trees down, power lines down, no power... no internet.... the town is still dealing with all of this... we even got a "snow day" because the power is still out at the school. So... I'll try to do a mash up of what I had planned to do, and post something later today.... or tomorrow!

  11. Sirius tiptoed on the Sett, from his room to the Fireplace area. Now, how will we do this? Tapping his wand, he crafted some baloons, some additional flowers here and there (even though the Sett has abundant number of herbs already), and some fireflies glowing. Yup, I think that sets the mood. He then proceeded near the Fireside and made some smoke-coloured letters dancing to some ballad tunes. the letters spelled Happy Valentine's Day, Everyone! There, it looks nice. Sirius hopes to get the message across. You are loved, dear! He then went back to his room, hoping to get asleep faster this time.

  12. No, this isn't a Badger attacking some lions ... but it IS a Mongoose not backing down when surrounded by lions. It's a MONGOOSE. Yep. In February, we get to explore the Wonders of the Mongoose! Rikki-Tikki-Tavi! ********************************************************************************************* FYI -- Here is the picture of the Honey Badger In South Africa, a honey badger had to be captured & put back in its enclosure after it escaped to fight a pride of lions. However, the determined badger escaped again, first building a rock tower & again by standing on the head of a female introduced to mate to unlock the gate.

  13. Sirius breathed a, or maybe six sighs of relief, throwing glances at Tarma, turning to giggles and laughter after. We did it! With the help of everyone, we did enjoy the few days of absence of our HoH, did some games, activities and threw a wonderful party for everyone. Since the party is now HoH-approved, Sirius reversed the charms hiding the traces, memories, and remnants of the party (THE SIX THREADS/MEMORIES ARE BACK!). Congratulations and huge thanks to everyone! Below are the total number of diamonds earned by the following throughout the whole activity. Well deserved! Adeline Morior - 95 Ann-Marie Gagne - 85 Artemisia Thorne - 215 Dibyarup James Potter - 155 Evie Figg - 185 Harry Walles - 145 Janne Halla - 215 Louis Walles - 145 Lex Green - 115 Prof. Felicia Hartwick - 30 Prof. Sirius Fudge - 10 Prof. Tarma Amelia Black - 160 River Fenwick - 215 Scarlet Robloutain - 115 Viviana Kingston - 215 Now, what shall we do next?

  14. Just dropping by to see how things are going. *noticeswhatlookslikeaunnormalamountofbakedgoodsonthetable* Looks like my Badgers were quite hungry while I was gone. They must have been studying late to get those assignments in on time. *smirks* Well I'm off to see what dragons Charlie has to show me on those sunny islands!

  15. Question: How did you come to know of the party? What are your initial thoughts about it? Do you think we will be able to pull this off? To give our other visitors some idea, what are you wearing for the party? What are your expectations for the party? I learned of the party through my frequent visits to the Hufflepuff common room, so I just kind of stumbled into it. My initial thoughts were that it was a well-rounded party assembled quickly. I have complete confidence in the staff to pull this off! As I stumbled into this, I was wearing my school attire and repping Slytherin at the party. Question: What part of the party do you enjoy the most, the dance floor, or some board and card games with friends, or the foods and drinks? Maybe some more private time outside, enjoying the night skies and evening wind? Any interesting happening in the party that is one for the books? I'm a big card game person for parties, especially some with risks. Perhaps as we play, losing a round means you gamble with some Bertie Bott's Beans. In my opinion, the decor brought the atmosphere together. There was a slight mishap with the Crackling Egg Rolls, as the fireworks aspect was a little too potent in a few of them. Question: What are your exit strategies in case our HoH Fels unexpectedly arrive earlier, witnessing the party at its peak? Though I think that would not happen (given some alarms we set up earlier ). How do you plan on helping after the party, making sure that no remnants of the party are seen or felt or tasted or sensed? Any help would do so I thank you for your answers. My exit strategy is simple: distraction. Whether I would have to sacrifice a fellow first year, though apologetically, I will slip out unnoticed one way or another. If I'm feeling tame, I could use the Crackling Egg Rolls mishap as a distraction to leave. I would happily be on the cleanup crew after the party, using magic to restore the Sett as if the party never happened.

  16. This image is somewhat hyperbolic (giraffes cannot actually have their heads in the clouds), but it is a great example of just how tall these awesome animals are. Head in the Clouds...Literally! Solve this Jigsaw and earn 30 Diamonds! Post your screenshot of the completed jigsaw below before the end of January, HOL time, to earn your Diamonds. Remember that all your graphics need to be 600x600 or smaller. Be sure to include the amount of time it took you to complete the puzzle as well as the number of pieces it has. *** 1/18/2024 - EDIT Dibyarup wrote saying that the link appears to be broken. (Thank you, Dibyarup.) We'll come up with another puzzle to do, or somehow fix that link, or both. In the meantime, though, watch this spot for changes AND go do the rest of the Wonders of Giraffes here! Tarma ****** 1.24.2024 - Edit the Second I went looking for that Jigsaw, whose link disappeared, and didn't find it. So here's another 80 piece GIRAFFE jigsaw for folks to do! Head in Trees

  17. You're right on time. I've been making sure all out ghost hunting equipment are all set to go! Seems like everything is working, but you know those ghosts... they do like to drain the batteries on things. So everyone, Huffleween begins! As most everyone knows, October and Halloween is my favorite time of year. Each year I go on as many ghost tours as I can in my area. This year, Huffleween will be bringing YOU to some cities I have visited and some I hope to get to soon. So hope on board the Mystery Machine and lets head out to a city in Florida that is well known for many things that go bump in the night.
