  1. Tax season is over!! I am so sorry I didn’t get a discussion or many of the activities I usually post posted for April, but hopefully after you read below you will understand somewhat as to the reason. I am going to try and make it up to you by offering additional activities this month to get you the diamonds you deserve! May Discussion: Have you or do you have a demanding job? I do! It is only classified as part-time seasonal, but in many ways it feels like a full-time (sometimes part-time) year round job with 8 weeks unpaid or more if you choose not to work, time off (unless you count unemployment) job! So, starting a few days after the IRS end of tax season we start what is called "Preseason". This means those who want to work may work a couple of days a week in a year-round office assisting those who haven't filed yet, and those who have received letters from the state department of revenue or the IRS. Then you have continuing education of 18 hours each year and We also have a service/product that we offer starting in November called Emerald Advance where you can get a loan against your estimated tax refund. You can use the money for whatever purpose you choose, but it is supposed to be paid back plus the interest before February 15th. Then right after New Year’s we begin the next tax season. I have scheduled appointments, walk-in's who want their returns completed right then and then I have drop-offs, to work on as well. The vicious cycle begins again! LOL Tell us about your job, career, school, vocation, family life or someone else you know that that does. Each post must be at least 100 words, you can start a new post or respond to someone else’s. For each 100 words you will receive 10 Diamonds! Maximum number of 30! Of course, you are welcome to submit more if you like! You have until May 31st to submit your post!

  2. I’ve always been fascinated by the ‘fantastic beasts’ part of the movies. It’s been such a pleasure finding out how some creatures look or discovering new ones from other cultures. We still have two movies to go in the franchise (at least by the original plan), so let me ask you, what magical or mythological creature would you like to see depicted next? Is there a particular creature from your culture that you’d love to see on the big screen? What is it? Out of those already existing in Harry Potter world, is there a magical creature you’d like to have at home? Write a post with at least 100 words and earn 15 Diamonds! If you write another one of at least another 100 words, you can earn additional 15 Diamonds, too. Note: Please, do not post twice in a row in a short time! Wait for someone else to post, or 24 hours, before posting again. You have until May 14th, 11:59 pm HOL time to earn your Diamonds. If you respond within a week of this being posted, though, you earn an additional 3 bonus Diamonds. Please, be mindful of the spoilers for the latest movie (trailers’ spoilers are allowed)! Not everyone has the ability to see the movie the moment it came out. Please, mark them appropriately.

  4. I love the friendship between Newt and Jacob, especially for that time! They have a great friendship and it shows that a wizard can be friends with a muggle. I think Jacob's character is funny and I love Newt's character, his awkwardness and the quirky things he does throughout all 3 movies that make him different from all the other characters. I understand why Grindelwald would want Queenie as part of his followers because of her legilimency, but I do wish she would have turned him down in the second one and not become a follower because she was supposed to be good. I didn't like how she left Jacob to go to Grindelwald. But then again if she did turn him down, he probably would have killed her anyway. So if i look at it like that, in a way, maybe it was actually a good thing she turned to his side. No spoilers for the third movie, but it was a great movie and showed more of the characters personalities.

  13. There are a couple wonderful new creatures introduced in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. The Qilin is renowned in many places of the world. Different people are aware of this wondrous creature and her attributes. Somewhat oddly, though, the Qilin sometimes takes a somewhat different shape depending on where it manifests (and sometimes is called by a slightly different name)! Choose one of these two Qilin pictures and color it in. You earn 30 Diamonds when you post your picture! Picture One Direct link to Picture One. Picture Two Direct link to Picture Two. You have until May 14th, 11:59 PM HOL time to post your picture below and earn 30 Diamonds! You earn a bonus of 3 Diamonds, though, if you do so within a week of me posting this.

  14. Another monster that I would love to see somehow getting interpreted into the Fantastic Beasts series would be fauns. I remember reading the one and only Chronicles of Narnia. Mr Tumnus was my favourite character and so I would love to see fauns in the Fantastic Beasts. Since they are part human, maybe there would be included as to how they cover their legs and make themselves look like human so that no one will realise they are in fact monsters. I wonder how would their relationship with Newt go. Maybe he would use their help to solve another mystery case.

  15. As a ferret lover and owner, it would be a sin for me not to want to see Jarvey. For those who do not know, jarvey is an overgrown ferret. It is classified as a beast XXX and apparently is capable of learning human speech. Although rather dangerous and crazy animal, I would love to see it in the movie. My opinion may be biased - I think ferrets should be in every movie as their cuteness is overwhelming. But as I said - it is just a talk of a ferret owner, so a rather biased but honest opinion right here.

  16. I would really like to see gargoyles in the movies. For those who do not know, gargoyles are them weird devil looking things, which are typically a form of decoration on buildings. The first time I saw gargoyles being animated into monsters in the movie called The Hunchback of Notre Dame'. As the time went by, I have seen movies in which they were portrayed as evil spirits. I am therefore really interested how would they be shown in the Fantastic Beasts series. I wonder how Newt would communicate them and how could he tell them apart from just stone monuments.

  17. It may be odd but I would love to see a proper representation of shapeshifters. There are not many movies depicting shapeshifters, and the only big movie that does have it is Twilight. I don't think there is enough movies about this with most mistaking shifters for werewolves and completely missing the point. Therefore, that would be an interesting aspect. I think that it would be better if the whole disagreement between vampires and shifters would be skipped in the movie since I believe it may discourage people from watching it. As we know, not everyone likes the Twilight series.

  21. If I was answering this question in character, I would point out that in the Slytherin dungeons we have three semi-domesticated magical creatures as house pets: two XXXXX-rated creatures (Basl the Baslisik Basilisk and Malumbrabas the Lethifold) and Annabelle, a giant squid who has escaped Ministry classification yet somehow seems to flood the dungeons every five years or so. But out of character? I think I want a magical creature who is capable of hugging me - preferably multiple times at once. The Sea Serpent fits the bill: as a hundred-foot-long water snake, it is probably capable of wrapping its body around me close to a dozen times at once. It is also a fairly gentle creature, which means I can be assured that these hugs will comfort me instead of harming or killing me. As an added bonus, sea serpents live in large bodies of water, so having one at home would mean that I therefore also have access to large bodies of water - and probably live in a house with oceanfront property! Getting to live on the water and also being able to get a dozen hugs at once makes the Sea Serpent a great choice for me.

  22. Is child-rearing at 'home' a job? Some say yes, some say no. It's very difficult to raise a single kid, much less more. I'm a stay at home mother to four littles, one older and a pack of triplets. Very difficult, but oh so rewarding. I'm firmly on the yes side. You don't really get hours or days off, not like in other jobs. You're always present and you're always in demand. I'm lucky to have a good partner and support system so I get the time to myself when needed. Some parents, especially single mothers and fathers, don't have that luxury. More power to them!

  24. Oh yes. I have worked at my local elementary school for the past 28 years. I've been lucky and have always been in the same building (there are 5 elementary schools in our district). I have worked in the Skills class, which was a class to work with students who were below their grade level and work with them to get them up to their grade level so that they could be moved to a mainstream class. From there I've worked in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5 grade classes. But my favorite classes were the 2nd/3rd grade Special Needs self contained classes. They were the sweetest children you could ever meet and work with. But I have to say, as far as a demanding job, I have to say that would be the this school year and last school year. Last year was the first year back since the pandemic shut the schools down in 2019. It was a strange year because of all the social distancing, the 5th graders (my year) were moved to the Middle School. So we have kids coming back after almost a year and a half of remote class and now they are in a new school. I really do blame it on the pandemic, but they seems to have forgotten how to be students. They became students who thought they could do whatever they wanted, shouting out, talking back and being basically rude to each other. This year, the 5th grade class is just as rude, and the sad thing is from talking to their former teachers, they were this way all their school career. Like I said, I've been teaching for 28 years, and yes, I'm probably one of the oldest people in the school so I go by how I grew up and how you wouldn't dare talk back to a teacher.

  25. Since I don't have other jobs and I am no longer in uni since I graduated three years ago (thank God for that), I am going to mention a person I know who works tirelessly. My brother-in-law is a father of a 4 year old girl. His wife to be has recently lost her job due to the pandemic and is still looking for work. Therefore, he pushed himself harder and is currently working 12h shifts everyday. He is a mechanic. He drives to his clients, who have issues with their cars and repairs them straight away. He is great at what he's doing.

  26. My last job, which I have been doing for the longest time is being a singer. When I was 15 (in 2009) I created a band with my three friends. We have been singing in the same pub ever since. We also did some shows at weddings and parties. Through the years, each of us had cases when was unable to preform for a week or so. Therefore, we also have 'replacements' - one extra singer, bassist, guitarist and drummer. I really love this job because it is a good way of spending time with my closest friends and earn money at the same time.

  27. I also do a part time cleaning job. I work at a key holder position, which means I am completely alone in the building and can come anytime I want. I have the key to the building and so I have to lock it after I finish my work. I clean at the local GP in the area we used to live. Oddly enough, the same surgery was our main GP back in a day. It's not a bad job but I would prefer to work somewhere else or earn enough in my 'main' job but that will do for now.

  28. My second job, which is less amazing or fascinating is cleaning. I work as a part time evening cleaner. I guess I should say 'have worked' since I got fired yesterday. That's a common thing for this type of job since the bosses are often unfair and barely treat people with any respect. Therefore, I am on a look out for a new part time cleaning job. I don't clean toilets and kitchens because this is a nasty business and rather humiliating. I prefer to clean desks and office areas. In the last job (the one mentioned above) I used to hoover, clean the desks and throw away the rubbish.

  29. I do have a demanding job because I work in the local government. I work as P2P Account Payable. My main responsibility is to register new suppliers to the system and doing all essential things so that people will get their money. This job is rather demanding, especially that since March, I have been the only person, who is responsible for customer service and so I have been answering phone calls. People are calling like crazy so there is always plenty of work. The problem is when people are rude, which happens. I hate dealing with rude people, since I have to be nice.

  30. This is actually perfect because I do have three jobs haha. Since the costs of living in London have been through the roof and they are still rising. Therefore, without so many jobs I would have made my family homeless. My first job that I enjoy the most is cat sitting. I come once or twice (depends on the owner's decision) to the client's house and I feed, play with the cat/s, as well as clean the litter box. I also collect the post and water the flowers. It is not a very demanding job but it's still time consuming. I need to constantly communicate with the owner, be reliable and punctual. The most time consuming is the need to constantly travel by the public transport.

  34. As my dear badger said, yes, we technically live on an island. I agree with what Harry said about where we live. It is true. I have a huge Vitamin D deficiency because of the lack of sun in here! I was born in Poland and so to get here I had to take either a bus and then a cruise or a plane. I went with the second one since travelling for more than two days seems like a true nightmare for me. Therefore a 2h flight was a better option. I hope to go to a 'proper' island someday!
