The class list is up! Time for all of us to search for the classes we want to take.

So much to choose from, it's going to be hard to choose. Many of them bring back some good memories to me, having taken a number of them in the past.

Once you pick your classes and get approved.... come back here and let us know what you decided on. Who know, there might be a Badger or two taking the same class.

Welcome to Hufflepuff - the House of the Badgers!

Some may think we are like the European badgers (Meles meles), more of a cheerful sort, love to eat, play and we live in a Sett. Others might think we are more like the Honey Badger (Mellivora capensis) and maybe not quite so cheerful, and more solitary in nature, but still loving to interact with other Badgers, eat and play.

All this past year, Hufflepuff has had its members being the hard workers that we, inherently, are. I don't know if we think of it as working, though. Maybe we have a peculiar sense of play? Be it as it may, we've had an eventful school year and many are the awards which were earned and given out.

Hufflepuff House Spirit Awards and Sundry Other Awards gathered through the year

Yes, the Head of House of Hufflepuff is working 2 jobs in RL (Tarma warned her she would be a lot more busy after officially 'retiring'! ) and Tarma is, herself, somehow wishing for another time-turner, as this one has worn out.

		Now on to the awards.

Message from Fels... In all the years I have been at HOL and Hufflepuff, I always tried to keep up with the Hufflepuff Award announcements, but this year has been one that just became too much. We started a house renovation, I went back to work part-time that ending up full time, family members fighting the fight of their lives, myself, having to battle a fight of my own and so I became a bit distracted.

I am so glad to have had Tarma as my right hand lady in all that is Hufflepuff and The Sett during this time. So at this time I wish to present to her The Alektaia Khalikiope Memorial Award. I couldn't have managed this year without her.

To make sure that members of this forum are genuine students of hol.org.uk, new accounts have to be approved by an administrator before being given full access to the Common Room. I usually check once or twice a day to see if we have anyone registering to the Hufflepuff Common Room. To do this I must check with the HOL database to make sure you registered in HOL first.

Every time registration approvals are done, I will post here with a list of the accounts that have been approved.

First I will post who has been Approved.

Next I will post those who tried to register but was not on the database.

Then I will post the names that have been rejected. I will give the reasons why they were rejected, usually it's because you were not registered on HOL, or you didn't use you full HOL name.

If your account has been rejected, fix what was posted and try again.

Since HOL opened up for the 2023/2024 Autumn Term we have had over 200 people attempt to register at The Sett. Sadly though, not using a correct HOL name, which is a requirement of signing up to The Sett. Remember that in order to sign up, you need to use your full HOL name, with proper spacing and capitalisation. That is, a name with a first and last name, not names like "No", "soup", or just a first name, yes, those are actual "names" people have tried to register with.

While the main HOL site is down, I cannot verify members so they will not be approved/rejected until the main HOL site gets back up (so please be patient if you are waiting to register)! I always check with the HOL official members pages to see if in fact the person signing up for the Sett has in fact signed up for HOL.

If your signup is invalid (not an HOL member or your user ID does not match your HOL name completely), your account will be deleted without notification (though you can try again with the correct display name/user ID once you do have a proper HOL name).

The Head Office is working on getting the Forum up and running again, so it may be a day or so before I can return to approving (or rejecting) anyone for The Sett.

Just in case you received an Award and wondered ... what IS this thing? Why did I receive it?! I cannot find that write-up (it might also have been in our Yearbook -- which got eaten ...) so am posting this -- in case you are curious! Here is a list of some of the awards given out from various and sundry folks of Hufflepuff. No, it's not a complete list, but covers a few of them.

Diamond Hoarder - For the person, Badger or not, who has the 3rd highest number of Diamonds earned in the months July - June.
Diamond Hoarder Extraordinaire - For the person, Badger or not, who has the 2nd highest number of Diamonds earned in the months July - June.
Diamond Hoarder Specialist - For the person, Badger or not, who gathered the most Diamonds during the months July - June.

Badger By Another Name Award - this goes to folks who are of other Houses (or no house affiliation) who have shown themselves by deed or word or action to have distinct Badger traits.

Badger Cub Award - A first year Badger (this is their FIRST year here, not a repeating first year) who is showing a lot of activity in the Sett as they first join HOL.
Badger Sett-er - for the regular and active Sett Visitor, and it may be a Badger or ... maybe not!
CheekyBadger - Haven't the foggiest of what this could be *halo*
House Spirit Award (HSA) - an award given to a person that the Spirit Committee feels shows an exemplary amount of House Spirit; is always a Badger.
Hungarian Horntail Award - A poll is done for HSA winners for months September - January & February through June (ie months of the school year) with a Summer Option award (see below) -- whoever gets the most votes wins this award. It's like a HSA magnified.
HSA - Summer Edition - the House Spirit Award given out in summer months (July and August); this person is not considered for the following terms' Hungarian Horntail award.
Ickle Firstie Award - First years only may apply - for the active Ickle who participates in a lot of Sett (or HOL) activities
NotALlama Award - Folks who think of fun things to do and then follow through on them (this is not the same as OOH-Creativity because it could include redoing old ideas, or starting (and continuing) an RPG that many folks participate in. Basically this is for folks who help to keep activity in the Sett ('Hufflepuff') - active.

The Reserved Badger - this award is for the badger who is "reserved" ... doing his or her assignments, not wandering the Sett but still earning points for Hufflepuff....

Order of Helga - Courage Award - for something that required more than the usual amount of courage, keeping in mind that Badgers are pretty brave
Order of Helga - Creativity Award - for brilliant ideas that are created and acted upon, usually positively impacting Sett activity but something affecting the whole of HOL
Order of Helga - Hard Work Award - Badgers work hard; whoever gets this award is someone who is probably suffering an extensive brain damage
Order of Helga - Humourist Award - no idea hahahahaaaheeeheheheeeee *snort*
The Parker Award - for the mischievous Badger

	Hello all!
Welcome to the Sett, and more specifically, the Fireplace!
Here are a set of guidelines for you to follow when you want to post anywhere in the Sett. Please note that all HOL rules apply to these boards so that we all can have a fun enjoyable time here! More details of forum rules are available in the HOL handbook. Link to HOL Handbook

- No spamming. Spam comes in all shapes and sizes but mostly it's posting useless or pointless posts or even better yet, something that's already been posted and discussed at length.
- No house bashing or insulting other members of other houses or even members of your own house. Everybody should respect each other, no matter what house you?re from or how old you are.
- Keep your posts G rated. We have people of all ages visiting and posting in the Fireside.
- Don't give out personal information about yourself. CONSTANT VIGILANCE!
- No advertising of messengers in your posts. Not only can these be easily obtained from your profile [if you choose to put them up]; we are not responsible for the conversation that may happen.
- No links in posts unless the links are HOL-links [e.g. The Wizarding Times, Paw Print etc]
- Don't abuse the text size feature. THIS is a little okay if you want to make something stand out but THIS is just a bit too much. (okay a lot too much)
- Please try and keep your signature to 4 lines of text in your signature [5 or 6 is a little okay, particularly if they're in tiny text, but please do not overdo it]
- No images in your post other than your signature and avatar please
- Read game/RPG rules before attempting to participate. It makes it easier and more fun to participate!
- If a person has misunderstood the game and has posted wrongly, please continue the game with the last correct answer and not the wrong one (unless it's the Wrong Answer Game)
- No bumping up of game posts. If somebody is late in replying, bumping up the game isn't going to wake the person up. A PM would be more appropriate. A funny little thing called real life sometimes interferes with a person's ability to respond, so try and be patient
- Generally, no more than 3 smilies in a post. It can be a bit annoying seeing an excess of smilies popping up everywhere in a single post.
-All post must contain at least five (5) or more words. This sort of goes along with the spam part. Obviously there are some games that don't fit this rule. In other words, don't post on impulse. Please put some thought into your post and check for errors before you reply to a thread.
-Do not start any games thread, if you want to see a particular game started, please send a message Prof. Felicia Hartwick to get permission.
-All Harry Potter words, whether spells, names, locations, or magical creatures, should be spelled correctly.
http://www.hp-lexicon.org/index-2.html This can help!
-When playing games or posting here, they need to be Harry Potter related. This means don't bring people like Goldilocks or Actors/Actress into these fun. Leave them to their own world. *g*

Guest at the Sett please read!!!
